Totally agree. The NFL has become the symbol for disrespect for the American flag. Those obscenely overpaid players need to suffer the consequences.

A free college education has no monetary value to NCAA players who have no interest in it and/or are incapable of really putting it to any use.

If the Raiders offensive front line threw the game as rumored, there will be a money trail a mile long and half a mile wide.

The DOJ should investigate immediately.

The NFL management and team owners who support, or condone, the players who disrespect the National Anthem took a gamble.

They made a bet that supporting the anti-American players would bring in more fans from the political left without losing fans who are patriots and pro-America.

And they thought they could jump on the leftists anti-Trump band wagon and safely defy and insult President Trump.

It’s already obvious that they realize they made two bad bets.

Now they are looking for some sort of middle ground (ie: arm-linking)to avoid open conflict with the players and as a sop to Americans disgusted with them and the players.

But it is just making things worse.

They have shown their true colors and can never regain the loyalty of the Americans they have treated so shabbily.

Maybe - someday.

If we ever get an Attorney General with a backbone and some fire instead of a white glove graduate of the Emily Post Institute.

Bottom Line - getting a cost free bachelors degree seems like a reasonable deal for the other 98%.

Fine. But let's limit the number of scholarships awarded each year to the number of players a college graduated the prior year with real degrees in real academic fields, honestly earned.

Then we'd see how the football powerhouses would fare with about 10 scholarship athletes on the field. The rest of today's "student athletes" could go back to whatever manual labor they are capable of doing. Or the NFL could set up its own farm system.

Football itself will remain American, but the NFL can go to hell.

Football is an American cultural icon. The demise of football was the left’s intent all along. We mustn’t let ourselves go along with it.

What is your suggestion then? That we tolerate the thugs that are kneeling on the sidelines and disrespecting us, our country and our flag?

“The thing is...all those NCAA kids standing there and realizing the ultimate dream is over...then why play NCAA football? It’ll dissolve them out of existence and then high school football.”

Well, there’s flag football. And, the girls could play. Hmm, I’m kinda liking this. Put them in cute shorts, tight tank tops? You know, this just might sell, lol!

If NCAA football dissolves, then major cash flaws into the universities will end. This will force downsizing at the larger NCAA schools, which will result in terminations of professors and possible pay cuts, too.

Liberal indoctrinators will become more strident as the consequences of their activism runs full-circle and costs them their lifestyles and livelihoods.

I don’t believe athletic money funds the academic side directly. Football helps fund the other sports programs. If football goes, then a bunch of other sports go with it. If you have less student athletes, then you don’t need as many professors unless student athletes are replaced by regular students.

Perhaps the gamblers can solve this problem.

Some of them could sit down with the owners and explain—you keep politics out of the game or we break your knees. :-)

You may be right about direct contributions, but I don't know about ticket sales, television revenues, memorabilia and concessions, etc. I'm sure a percentage of that goes into the University's general fund. Money is fungible; it displaces spending that would have otherwise been prioritized so against research needs.

It also affects enrollment; kids want to go to the school with exciting reputations. Take away football Saturday, and maybe fewer students will choose that school. Maybe rich alumni won't donate for that next building.
