If you sell them it lets the NFL fill seats. Better to burn them by the millions and give the NFL a sea of empty seats, even if their teams already have the money (for tickets purchased to date). I hope the TV ratings continue to slide — they should plunge to the basement if people have any sense at all.

And empty seats means fewer concession sales. Concessions are unshared revenue for the team owner. So empty seats strike directly at the owner.

My wife's family are into sports to a ridiculous level. Players could rape kids on the field and they'd still watch the games. Some people have no sense, at all.
