Shattuck: Donald Trump just stays on point While Dems criticize, president focuses on relief

With much of Puerto Rico destroyed, the Trump administration is in a pitched battle against time and the fallout from the devastating Hurricane Maria. And like clockwork, Democrats and their media giddily look to blame the whole thing on the president.

As George W. Bush was made to pay for the 2000 election squeaker, the Iraq War and the 2004 re-election while bearing full blame for Hurricane Katrina, so Trump must be made to pay for the 2016 election — an abhorrent and shocking event to progressives everywhere — and the ongoing mass hysteria.

The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, meanwhile, has praised the administration’s handling of the disaster, saying, “The administration has answered and has complied with our petitions in an expedited manner.”

Trump will arrive in Puerto Rico to assess the situation Tuesday. Petty media types will criticize everything he does. They will take to Twitter and Facebook and become uglier and more craven than they thought they were capable of just one year ago. They’re obsessed with him.

Thankfully, he’s obsessed with Puerto Rico.

President (General) Trump has marched Eastward from Texas to Florida in a steady attack against the natural disasters NO ONE can control but only a strong and wise CIC can respond to effectively and almost without a good night's sleep, began the relief efforts for our southern island neighbors and friends.

What, him worry?

President Trump lives in the comfort and security of knowing he is not alone, not by a long shot.

Only a few loud discontents and rebels that have a sycophant media for support just SEEM to be making dents in his armor.

I suspect Trump will go to PR to listen. He will allow those that are frustrated with their inability to make it go away to let it all spill out for him to hear. The telling and the hearing are cathartic for those up to their asses in alligators.

By now, it is apparent to all there that the only way to make it go away is to go to work and clean up the mess.

Fox news just had Jerry Rivers reporting from Puerto Rico that the mayor of San Juan has NOT, repeat, NOT attended any meetings with the FEMA HQ in San Juan to help focus aid to her city. He said that there were mayors from other cities and towns getting to or being airlifted into San Juan for the meetings and detailing what their areas need most. I’ll leave comments on her not willing to work with the disaster relief team to others.

I remember when I was sent to Camp Shelby, MS, after Hurricane Katrina, to check on the US Army Military History Detachments that had been activated to cover the rescue and recovery effort. It was about a week after the hurricane and driving from Jackson to Camp Shelby, the 4-lane divided road was only open with 1 lane in each direction due to the amount of trees that had been blown down across it and had to be cleared by road crews and engineer teams. There were roads on Camp Shelby itself that were still blocked. Look on a map of Louisiana and Mississippi to see how far it is from New Orleans to Camp Shelby. and imagine the affect on transportation and relief....then think about Puerto Rico, where the road damage is probably much worse and thus hindering getting in relief except by helicopter.

Thanks for the ping and your memory of Katrina. Of course, many of the roads in PR are blocked. And the Democrat mayor of San Juan is also a blockage.

And, as far as a blockage goes, the democrat party’s Teamsters are refusing to carry Trump-administration US food and supplies.

I think this will be the turning point, where millions will wake up and finally see how the media has been playing them.

And I was ‘sick as a dog’ during that trip. I was coming down with a cold, but mission came first. Slept that night after the visit at the airport with a couple of soldiers who were flying out because no hotel rooms. Local airport security, showed us an out of the way corner where we could crash and kept “watch” for us, so we could get some sleep. I was a Department of the Army civilian historian with the US Army Center of Military History at the time.
