SICK! Teachers Desecrate American Flag – Inside a School Library

Is it permissible to desecrate the American flag for educational purposes?

That question is at the center of a raging firestorm in suburban Chicago after York High School allowed teachers to desecrate an American flag – in the school’s library.

Staff members from the English and social sciences departments placed an American flag on the floor in the school’s library on Sept. 26 as part of a project on First Amendment rights. Students were not permitted to walk-on or deface the flag.

The school gave the defiled flag to the American Legion so it could be properly retired.

A spokesperson for the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 told the Chicago Tribune neither the school board nor district administrators were notified prior to the display.

Well, I suppose we should not be surprised that a bunch of public school educators decided to desecrate Old Glory.

“It was used for students to reconcile their feelings about current issues and whether their First Amendment rights are protected,” Principal Erin DeLuga wrote in a letter to parents.

“The purpose of the forum was to explore the complexities of the constitutionally protected right of free speech by examining real cases,” DeLuga added.

“We ask our students to think critically about issues relevant to them and our society,” the school district said in a statement Wednesday. “At the same time, we understand that this demonstration caused some angst in the larger community and for that we deeply apologize.”

What happened to sticking with the “3 Rs”? Teachers, lay off of the politics and just teach.

And try to do it better. I taught community college and could not believe the poor quality of the writing these high school graduates had. Misspellings, terrible structure of compositions, etc.

Every day I miss America and living there, but I have to say, my children got a great education in the public schools here. I hate to admit it, but where we lived in Denver, the reading level was only about 40%. Plus there were a lot of gangs. That’s not the case here.

Just because the Bill of Rights granted us rights no other country on the planet has,does not mean that they should be abused.These asshat tacher clowns would riot if one of their sacred flags,such as a rainbow,Mexican or Hezbollah, were desecrated. Symbolism is extremely important to not only the right but the left as well. They may have the right,but I will always take appropriate action to protect the flag just as much so when I served in the Army.
