Fresno County GOP moves fundraiser with Joe Arpaio, criticizes ‘bullying from the left’

The Fresno Republican Party’s annual fundraising dinner, which this year features controversial former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, has been moved to Sunnyside Events in southeast Fresno. The event had previously been scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start Sept. 29 at TorNino’s Banquets on Blackstone Avenue near Shaw Avenue. Prior to that, it was scheduled for Sept. 23 at TorNino’s. Fresno County Republican Party Chairman Fred Vanderhoof said his organization decided to move the event because of concerns about tie-ups on a main traffic hub such as the area near TorNino’s. Sunnyside Events, at 5707 E. Balch Ave. in Fresno, is in the Sunnyside Health & Tennis Club complex just north of Kings Canyon Road and east of Clovis Avenue.

BTW, you shouldn’t jump to the conclusion she is Mexican — Hispanic surnames have been common in California since the late 1700s. She may be as American as anybody. But, of one thing there is absolutely no doubt — she’s an insane, open-borders lib.

The actual number of Spaniards in California between 1769 and 1846 never exceeded 7500.

Compare that to the number of Indians in 1846: 150,000. And in 1769 that number was 300,000. You don’t hear Ohlone last names all that much today, and yet they were by far a much larger group of people.

The Spanish - later Mexicans because of the 1821 revolution - were a tiny band of nobodies. The number of Americans in the Sacramento valley by 1848 was around 30,000. The Spanish were an even more irrelevant group.

The actual number of descendants from people like Pio Pico, Mariano Vallejo, Francisco Sepulveda and other Californios is exceedingly small and wouldn’t fill a neighborhood in San Jose now. The possibility that some woman in Fresno living in a flea bag apartment complex is a 6th generation Californio is near zero.

That is an immense number, in the millions. Virtually all since 1970 when “hispanics” were only 4% of the population of California.

So no, hispanic surnames haven’t been all that common in California until recently. I can remember walking the streets of San Diego in the mid-1960s and seeing virutally none of them.

Good points. I knew that there were very few Spaniards in the early years and their claim to the state was very flimsy during the gold rush and Bear Flag Republic days due to very low populations. The Spaniards essentially did nothing with California during that time — few scattered ranchos (many Spanish land grant ranches here in the Bay Area).

I arrived in CA in 1973. It’s easy to forget how things were back then.

Is that documented? I just spent a few minutes looking for data and it sure is obfuscated, almost as if the data collectors and reporters don’t want you to see the truth.

Not particularly astonishing when you start to think about the numbers. Illegal immigration was running about 500,000 / yr for going on 20 years since the ‘90s, adds up real fast at that rate. Recall also that from the 1986 Amnesty that 2.7 million were amnestied (double the 1.3 million they said it would be) and they brought in family members at a rate of about 3 additional people for every one amnestied. The old number I used to quote was just 3*3 = 9 million ultimately from the 86 IRCA. And at least half that was in California. It’s why LA county is what it is today. Prior 1980, illegals were few and far between. I recall seeing some in the Silverlake district in 1978 and they stood out like sore thumbs.

It’s an unprecedented crime wave and invasion unseen in human history, and worse, tolerated.

And it brought people like “connie” (Consuela) Martinez who think she has a right to pronounce our borders as meaningless. Tell that to my family members who fought and died in the Mexican war in 1846, or my great uncle who went with Pershing into Northern Mexico in 1915 in pursuit of Villa.

It is in fact a terrorist invasion. They use terrorism against our elected officials to try to intimidate them into acquiescing to the invasion, which is what the Fresno article really shows. In Mexico this is considered normal, as it shows that the weakling - us - cannot resist the Strongman - them - in pursuing what he wants: our land. In their society, that means it’s his.

We need to reverse that concept.
