Former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva was the ONLY Steeler to come out for the National Anthem on Sunday. He stood in the tunnel while the rest of the team hid in the locker room like disrespectful cowards.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II sent out a letter to fans on Monday explaining the disrespectful actions.. but not apologizing.
To Steelers Nation:
I want to reach out to you, the members of Steelers Nation, based on what I believe is a misperception about our players’ intentions in not taking the field for the National Anthem in Chicago. The intentions of Steelers players were to stay out of the business of making political statements by not taking the field. Unfortunately, that was interpreted as a boycott of the anthem – which was never our players’ intention.
Our players come from many different backgrounds and are united by what it means to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are active in their communities and participate regularly in events designed to give back to those communities. And they appreciate the support they get from Steelers fans around the country and here at home.
I also know that our players have tremendous respect for the members of our military services, including their teammate Alejandro Villanueva. There was never any desire on the part of our players to show disrespect for our service members.Yesterday, I received an email from a Steelers fan who said tell the players to just play football. That is exactly what they wanted to do. They wanted their sole focus to be on playing the game, while also coming together as a unified team.

The message in that letter is quite clear...Team Above Country. Doesn’t wash with me. Keep digging, Rooney.
It goes “God, Country, Honor,” not “Team, Big Bucks, BLM, Make Believe Racism, ME, ME, ME!”
Too little, too late Rooney! You made your bed, now lie in it. I hope it’s made of nails!
Mr Rooney should have a heart to heart talk with Tomlin. He will have all of his players stand and show respect during the playing of the national anthem. Any player who will not comply shall be removed from the field and escorted out of the stadium.
Looks like some are about to learn incredibly easy lessons in an extremely hard manner.
Too bad, so sad.

During the Anthem we are ALL Americans.

Rooney saw some income projections and decided to have his crisis manager write a letter. No sale.
Hey Rooney, tell your players to stand at attention during the national anthem to show respect for the nation and heroes who fought for their freedom. We don’t need excuses and bs about what these overpaid ingrates allegedly do for their “community”.

The Steelers probably handled this the worst of any team.
They hid from the National Anthem like cowards. Only Alejandro Villanueva had the courage and patriotism to come out. And obviously pressure was put on him by the team afterward because he subsequently APOLOGIZED for showing respect to the flag.
Steelers totally screwed the pooch on this one. Go away NFL.
