President Trump, in just eight months in office, has succeeded in upending U.S. refugee policy, cutting by more than half the 110,000-refugee target that the Obama administration had bequeathed him and dramatically shifting the demographics of who is accepted.
Gone is President Obama’s overwhelming focus on Muslims, and particularly on Syrians fleeing a civil war that his administration facilitated. Under Mr. Trump, the rate of Syrian refugees has been cut by more than 80 percent, and Christians have overtaken Muslims in total refugees resettled.
“It’s impossible to escape the clear message that there’s a new sheriff in town,” said Matthew O'Brien, research director at the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which advocates for stricter refugee controls.
The Trump changes have reverberated around the globe, with the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees drastically cutting the number of refugee candidates it submits to the U.S.

There were two “Middle Eastern” restaurants in my town. One was run by Lebanese Christians, the other features posters with Rachel Corey (St Rachel Pancake). The first had (it has since closed) a nice cheerful atmosphere, the latter had lots of olive-skinned men who looked daggers at us while we ate. Haven’t been back of course. Both run by Arabs, both served pretty much the same food, only one big difference, Islam.
Just like Britain seems to have a lot of problems with Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, but not so much with Hindu Indians.

Obama accepted 85,000 “refugees” in 2016, and averaged 75,000 per year before 2016.
Trump's final number will come in at 55,000 or higher because of court challenges.
Almost none of these people - Muslim or Christian - are real refugees.
Most of them just claim to be refugees under USA and international law. Proving they are not refugees in American Federal court can take years and hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Usually, the total cost of moving them to the USA, their future legal costs, and the future cost of Medicaid and other welfare programs they are eligible for, would have comfortably supported them in their home countries for decades!
Also, the percentage of Muslims dropped just a little over 10%, and the percentage of Christians rose exactly 10%.
