VP Pence: Not ‘Too Much to Ask’ for NFL Players to Stand for the National Anthem

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — At an event at the Birmingham International Airport on Monday, Vice President Mike Pence echoed President Donald Trump’s comments regarding the national anthem protests. Friday, the president spoke out against athletes who refuse to stand for the national anthem, calling on NFL owners to fire them.

Pence added to Trump’s criticism at the rally Monday for Sen. Luther Strange (R-AL), saying he does not think it is “too much to ask” for NFL players to stand for the anthem. The reason being, he explained, was that it is about “respect” for the flag, country and those who fought and died for the country.

You can’t make a stand by taking a knee.

Especially since it is in their Official Rules!!!!

On pages A62-63 of the league rulebook, it states:

“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition.”

Glad to see the Cowboys all standing for the National Anthem, do not like the kneeling and protesting at work - I would be fired, on your own time fine, on the clock, go to work.

Contrast Pence's logical reasonable statement with the Donald's forceful, manly tone. With a little George S. Patton thrown into the mix.

I like the Donald's much better. Pence will never make the libs heads explode like our man.

The issue is, what exactly are they kneeling about in the first place? This whole thing goes back to Ferguson and the whole “hands up, don’t shoot” fabrication. These people are propagandizing as many American people as they can into believing the narrative that cops are deliberately and indiscriminately shooting down innocent young black men all over the country, which is utter nonsense.

This weekend dramatically exposed the NFL’s support for BLM and to show they’re not going to stand for a flag that represented such injustice. Make it be known the NFL supports cop killers of BLM and the violent thugs of ANTIFA who are also connected to BLM.

This would be like the NFL in the 60s/70s supporting black panthers or weather underground or something like that.

The NFL is now supporting or in unity with two groups who are just as violent and radical.

Why?

The NFL players handbook specifically srates that ALL players MUST be on the field for the playing of the Nationsl Anthem, ALL players MUST stand at attention for the anthem, and even describes how they must stand.

I’d like to see a list of all NFL players who decided to take a knee, along side of a list of those same players that details what they have done outside the stadium to help their communities.

And that doesn’t include mandatory team functions.

If NFL players and owners think the US is so suck, they should pick a better country and move there.

Mattis needs to make it clear to the NFL. Any further disrespect to the flag and there will be no more honour guards attending any NFL game from any of the service branches. No more recruiting ads. No more flyovers. If Goodell and the owners are going to take the same liberal approach as the owner of Starbucks, then public money shouldn’t be used to enhance their image.

Not Exactly!

This language does not appear in the NFL Rule Book, as the post indicates. However, it is apparently included in a separate document called the “game operations manual.” This document is not online, so we can’t review it first-hand, but McCarthy, the NFL spokesman, said it is distributed by the league to all of its member teams.

While text circulating on social media would seem to suggest there will be consequences for protesting during the anthem, there is discretion involved — and the NFL has repeatedly stated that it will not punish players for taking a knee during the anthem.

NFL players drank the communist koolaid provided by BLM and the mainstream media! Steelers coach persecuting #78. NFL should provide mandatory civics classes as part of revised football training. Dumb jocks need to acquire some understanding!

Cowboy team last night a stunt, just that!

Hope players can play soccer. It is the global communist’s preferred sport!

‘...he does not think it is “too much to ask” for NFL players to stand for the anthem.’

we are in the process of making it ‘too much to ask’ of any black to observe the most minimal of standards...

The Cowboys knelt in solidarity with the group that assassinated the five Dallas PD officers last year. Think about that.

Are you being sarcastic? Jones joined his players as they locked arms and knelt.

It’s time for Jones to prove he’s not a racist and sign Kapernick. The reason he and all the other owners won’t sign him is they know he would be booed Everytime he walked on the field. Their “support” only goes so far.

On another note, the uniforms for CWII have been chosen. One side flys the flag. The other side doesn’t.

Please stop posting this. It’s been debunked several times. The NFL rulebook contains no mention of the anthem at all.
