Well....for the record, Haaretz is a fairly liberal newspaper out of Israel. It’s generally viewed as liberal left.
I’ll also point out that around a quarter of the ownership of the newspaper....goes oddly to a German media company...M. Dumont Schauberg (they own and operate around ten major newspapers in Germany). The slant from those ten German newspapers over AfD over the past year? Mostly all negative.
If you did ask a hundred Germans on their view of a ‘special relationship’...out of a thousand priorities...it won’t even make the top 500 worries with most of the group.

I really know nothing about German politics, but that is a question I have.
Merkel, on paper, may accept Israel as a legit state. But her actions (or, perhaps, inaction) are moving the nation to a demographic that won’t. Am I wrong?

I don’t see that war refugees are calling for Germany to question the Israel right to exist policy. I see AfD who have seats in the Bundestag now questioning that.
Islam is required to be angry with other beliefs including Judaism. Qur'an 1:7.
Also note the way Gauland worded it. Its like a legal statement. If we recognize Israel we're obligated to defend Israel. The statement must be taken as a whole. I don't know the rest of the conversation to put it into context but that one statement doesn't question Israel's right to exist. It questions if Germany should defend Israel.
Stalking on the internet is a criminal offense. You're only laughing at the laws which makes me believe you're abusing the law.
