I agree, but I think the Left screwed themselves here. The NFL, as well as other sports, was one of the "bread and circuses" type of things keeping people from paying attention to all of the cultural rot that the Left has been pushing for decades. That opiate now appears to be off the table, or at least is on its way to being off the table.

In addition, I think the Left's exploitation of black people has gone out of their control. Black people have had their heads pumped so full of anti-white hatred that they are now turning even on their left-wing masters and are doing things that make it impossible for the most unobservant fence-sitter to fail to recognize the implications. We'll see.
