WASHINGTON — Senator Susan Collins of Maine said on Monday that she would oppose the latest plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, leaving Republican leaders clearly short of the votes they need for passage.

Ms. Collins, a Republican, announced her opposition in a written statement, delivering a significant and possibly fatal blow to the party’s seven-year quest to dismantle the health law.

GOP is dead as we know it, they just don’t know it yet. ONE senator from Maine should not be able to do this but it’s because the other GOP senators are also against it.

These lying bastards ran on repealing Obamacare, and now they’re loyal to their donors and lobbyists.

At the time of the vote, it would be an excellent chance for Joe Manchin to switch parties and declare FOR Graham-Cassidy

There is a critical mass of RINOs in the party. Nobody should expect anything truly conservative from this congress.

It is a critical mass of progressive corportists in the GOP. We are out numbered.

Yep.

The entire thing is a charade.

My BS meter was off the charts after hearing Senator Johnson from Wisconsin and Grahamesty on conservative radio shows they NEVER appear on pushing this plan. The whole is idea is to show “how hard the GOP Senate tried” to repeal. Total con job. The fix was in all along. Trump knew it and that is why he dropped a nuke on the NFL.

They would have outlawed most kinds of private health insurance (not clear to me that they can target self insured plans) and forced price controls on doctors and hospitals. Graham-Cassidy made that kind of inevitable by sharply cutting funding for CA to implement Obamacare while leaving the mandate in place - and giving the state far more power to create their own system. Give a socialist an inch...

Yet the Democrats fought viciously to defeat Graham-Cassidy. Unlike the GOP on this issue, they put their money where their mouths are. Something is wrong with your calculus, FRiend.

We will elect some Trump senators in 2018 and overturn it.

“It’s the GOP that is DOA.”

Susan Collins is a fossil.

She doesn’t represent the GOP.

Whereas the GOPe RINOs are a problem they are being dealt with. The tide is turning.

When you block grant Medicaid, you encourage blue states to set up Single Payer.

So what? I don't give a damn about Blue States. Let them screw themselves over. Better this monstrosity coming under state control than remaining with the Feds.

Not really.

Collins is just a bag lady. Senators trade votes all the time. She is retiring and giving cover to her friends in the Senate so they can continue the Obamacare real con job. The GOP spent no money to repeal it as far as I can tell. I heard pro-Obamacare ads in South Carolina. Never heard a repeal Obamacare ad. Obviously because the GOP elite loves Obamacare and the thought they can manage 1/5 of our economy.

Yes, she does represent the GOP.

The tide isn’t turning at all. They are all the same.

You need to stop watching the kabuki theater.

There is not some segment of government that is opposed to the other segments of government. The right hand is not opposed to the left hand.

They are both parts of the same body, and that body is entirely for itself and no one and nothing else.

The Senate must be purged BEFORE attempting another shot at repeal. In the meantime the deportation machine needs to operate non-stop.

At some point people are going to have to realize that whatever trust they placed in certain politicians was entirely misplaced.

They are all liars. Thinking that they are going to primary them out with new trustworthy politicians is also a mistake, because the entire game is rigged form start to finish.

We have a very serious problem that is going to require a very serious solution.

yeah...you're right...

we have the majority of state houses and governorships and have we had any meaningful voting security measures?...nope...

we will be a communist state in every sense of the word in a decade if not sooner...

Trump can't stop this alone...

Exactly. No free passes for your favorite GOPer who talks a good game on TV. The GOP promised to repeal Obamacare. The GOP failed. That is everybody in the party. From Cruz to Collins. They have all failed us. Period.
