“Call me a cynic. But I bet plenty of people will be watching. Ill be one of them tonight when my Cowboys take the field. I love football in all forms and I love watching it.”
I used to feel the same way about baseball - I was obsessed with the game...until the rich bastards went on strike in the middle of 1995. I was TICKED - and it has never been the same for me. I did follow the home run race with McGuire and Sosa in 1998...but after the steroid scandal broke, that was it for me.
These are businesses. They pretend otherwise, but it is business. I don’t have to patronize them if they are ticking me off - and especially if they are throwing their hatred of this country in my face. I only regret that I’ve never been a huge football fan, so that I could boycott, but as it is I generally only watch during the playoffs and the Stupid Bowl. Now...I’ll find something else worthwhile to do - there are only about 10,000 things that qualify.
Its not OK with me. When you have idiots taking a knee in England, and standing for God Save the Queen, then you have a fundamental breakdown in what this country stands for and was created. I guess these functional illiterates would rather respect a monarch, then honor our country by standing for our national anthem.
You are entitled to your actions, but you are also entitled to be open to the consequences of those actions. Too few in this country have actively served over the past 40 years.
The percentage disagreeing with the actions of the kneelers is higher than 50%, why don’t you ask ESPN and the others why they turned off their surveys when the number started escalating in support of those who believe that these actions are disgusting.
According to running back Darren McFadden the Cowboys stand for the anthem because they want to, not because they are told to.

That is why I still have my Cowboys jersey. They have never stopped being America's team.
used same phone number (210-531-8722), after initial prompt (what are you calling about?) said “complaint” and got right through to a person who wrote out complaint and forwarded to CEO.
Try it all you USAA members.
We need to push them.
with their black fists up....just nice...
I find your post interesting and couldn’t disagree more. For decades the “my way or the highway” has been the position of the Left, Democrats, most Blacks, and the media. Conservatives for the most part said fine, no big deal. So, it wasn’t a problem (whatever the “it” at the time was). Now that the “Right” or conservatives are beginning to stand up, it suddenly is a problem and both sides are equally to blame. I say that is BS. I don’t expect you to agree, but it isn’t simply my way of the highway.
In the name of social justice and in support of affirmative action, I am boycotting the NFL till 55% of the players are white, 30% Hispanic, 12% black and 1% native american and 2% asian.
When I said 50% etc... I was referring to Veterans I know and have talked to. Not people answering polls on ESPN
So how many folks did you talk to about this matter. How do you define “lots”? Since I work and live in a military area, there have been a number of conversations around the water cooler and mess hall about the week-end events. I would like to get your take on the comments made by the Pittsburgh coach (Tomlin) criticizing the Pittsburgh player who came out of the tunnel and stood for the anthem.
Do you support or not support Coach Tomlin’s critique?
I didn’t hear/read exactly what Tomlin said, but I got the jist of it. I think any criticism of what Villenueva did is completely inappropriate. That’s what actually pisses me off. If they want to “protest/kneel/whatever” then fine. But similarly, those that do not want to shouldn’t be called out for it one way or another.
And let’s remember one thing. Yesterday was brought on by Trump. None of these teams were doing this and very few players were kneeling in support of Kaepernick until Trump made the comments he made. It was all about that. These guys don’t support Kaepernick at all or if they do, not enough to kneel or stay in locker rooms. This was about rebutting Trump.
I never used them but at least I know which companies never to buy from.
Trump forced the cowards to play their cards. It’s good when enemies of civil society show themselves. They have been hiding behind CK. These players tweet their views regularly, but the media ignores because they don’t want to hurt the product. Trump forced media coverage.
I don’t follow any of these knuckleheads on Twitter. The feed for my business is full enough.
Good luck finding a pure insurance company to bring your business to
Shit, I really don’t want to cancel my insurance.
5.56mm
I don’t do Twitter much. Husband does. I had an account to follow some school things, but I had t checked it since May. Yesterday, I logged in and saw that a bunch of former Bama players were touting Black Power and what not. I quit following all of them and all sports media. Husband looks at his Twitter feed daily. He deleted everything related to the NFL including sports writers.
cool
For example, switching insurance companies is a major PITA. You have to pull your records, get on the phone, deal with options, etc. But *not* shopping at Target is easy - you simply make a right turn at the light instead of a left (or vice versa), and shop someplace else due to so many alternatives.
When we get to the entertainment arena, nothing could possibly be easier than **not viewing**. You don't have to do anything: you don't have to talk to anybody, you don't have to review your financial records, you don't even have to get used to taking a different route and get used to a new parking lot.
All you have to do is nothing. You don't even have to do/watch something else. Just sit and talk to your SO over a glass of wine. Easy peasy - but with an killer asteroid level impact on the NFL. Have no doubt - this is an extinction level event for the league.
As the reality of the situation begins to set in, look for an internal owner's rebellion led by Jerry Jones. For one, think how profitable a league with only 14-20 teams would be. Perhaps the same level of current revenue, but with half the teams. All they have to do is enforce a code of conduct, and guarantee each other that a player fired for any activity detrimental to the (new) league cannot be hired by another. (Say, for at least one season, and only afterward if said behavior is reversed.)
What so many don't see to realize is that this shit show is only getting started. That's because the advantage lies with patriots - we don't have to do anything. Just that 'non act' alone will amount to millions (billions?) of lost advertising revenue.
