I am kinda disappointed; was was hoping for an even bigger drop.
got to remember there was double digit decrease last year so if you add this number, there was over a 20% in viewership in last 2 years. If you are NFL, ESPN, Fox etc you are freaking out. ad rates will continue drop and these networks are going to lose big money. Look for ESPN to continue their cuts.
It's been sort of an undercurrent since last year, but the President has brought it out into the open. Then, instead of trying to calm it down, the NFL, the owners, coaches, and players all seemed to ratchet it up. Yesterday, it's as if the league declared war on America.
Next weeks ratings are more likely to reflect it.
Too soon for a big drop...this one will take time, but it will be a steady decline and may take a couple of seasons to really take hold. If you think about it, NFL has been on the decline during the Obama/Goodell era...politics and sports don't mix. People want to enjoy sports (NFL, NASCAR, ESPN, etc.) without being told they're rednecks, idiots, neanderthals, etc. Social justice, pride flags and breast cancer awareness have no place in sports, IMHO,just play the da*n game.
There’s a lot of buzz right now over Trump’s criticism and the protest. The numbers are probably temporarily higher due to curiosity. Look for the ratings to be lower this coming week.
The news doesn’t get much better for us patriots when you look at the ratings for some other games this week. I read that thursday’s game between the ninners and rams surged 30%. And some other Sunday games during the morning saw healthy gains as well.
The good news: no one, not even the anti-American msm, are touting these gains.
Other good news, most of the other games declined in the ratings.
They could be trying to minimize the drop. Remember ratings were down last year so if the 2016 ratings were down 15% from 2015 than last night could represent a drop of 23 -25% from 2015.
A lot of people were already boycotting, so there was less room for a drop.
I think the numbers could be weighted towards sport bars.
Was attendance at said sport bars down?
Did homeowners largely tune out?
Would OTA (over the air) viewers be captured?
