A teenager has been arrested after multiple victims were sprayed with acid around a busy shopping mall in east London on Saturday night. Officers were called to the scene of the attacks at the Stratford Centre, near the Olympic Park, where three of the victims needed hospital treatment after they were hit by a noxious substance.
Police in said six people were injured in a number of locations during an altercation involving group of males who the force believes to be linked to gang activities in the area.
Shocked onlookers reported scenes of panic following the incident, which was initially feared to be a series of random attacks, as victims cried out in pain while others rushed to wash the substance from their skin.
Witness Imran Tahir Rizvi said he saw a young male victim screaming in pain as his friends shouted about an acid attack.

Elections have consequences.
Oh well!
Invest in good makeup, Britain.
It has been for the last five years. I have a friend that grew up in London and she says it’s depressing to go back to visit, it is not England anymore.
Too bad Ms. May is agreeable to paying the EU for leaving.
The EU put these hateful, anti western monsters in the UK and is responsible for the damage they do. EU should pay damages first...
Only a matter of time before they spike acid in the plumbing so people hurt themselves just by washing their hands
I think we have to expect things like this in big cities, ain’t that right Mayor?
Brits should start carrying around a zip lock baggie of baking soda. It would neutralize the acid.
In high school chemistry class I held a test tube of hydrochloric acid over the burner too long and it erupted and splashed on my face. The teacher immediately coated my face with baking soda, and I had no burns and no after effects.
I fear that it’s too late for London with its Muslim mayor, but elsewhere civilization has to start defending itself now.
I wonder how quickly the acid attacks in London would stop if the penalty was immediate public hanging? Unfortunately we’ll never find out.
who gave you hydrochloric acid (presumably concentrated enough to do serious harm), and for god’s sake, why were you heating it with a Bunsen burner?
Import Islam, and you import disaster.
That would not translate to the US very well, as the use of a “chemical weapon”, in many circumstances, can face penalties in line with weapons of mass destruction.
§2332a. Use of weapons of mass destruction
A person who, without lawful authority, uses, threatens, or attempts or conspires to use, a weapon of mass destruction... shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life, and if death results, shall be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life.
Hah! I can top that!
After school, a fellow "A" student and I were helping our Chemistry teacher take stock of the chemicals in the store room, clean equipment, etc. (just as a courtesy).
At one point, I was cleaning an Erlenmeyer flask containing burnt and charred residues sticking to the bottom (inside) - in the prescribed manner: With aqua regia (a highly corrosive mixture of hydrochloric and nitric acids which will dissolve even gold).
I had stoppered the flask, and was gently swirling the acid, when suddenly the mixture grew very hot very quickly and the stopper blew off with a loud "bang!".
Fortunately, I had realized that something was about to happen, and was already running to the vapor hood / sink, with the bottle pointed away from anyone.
The mixture proceeded to foam, but by then I had gotten it into the containment area.
I was, of course, wearing a lab coat, rugged shoes, and protective goggles.
Still, I'll never forget it.
