Obama Gave Taxpayer Money to Jarring ‘Dog-Fighting Pitbulls’ Art Exhibit and Even Libs Horrified

Obama gave taxpayer money to jarring ‘dog-fighting pitbulls’ art exhibit and even libs are horrified

American taxpayers are often shocked to discover the strange places their money goes. One of the inevitable issues with big government is that public money is spent on the pet causes of whoever is in power–and citizens rarely find out about it.

In a jarring case of wasteful Obama-era spending that even liberals are criticizing, the federal government gave $300,000 to a “modern art” exhibit in New York’s Guggenheim museum that features eight aggressive pit bulls strapped down to wooden tread mills facing each other. The dogs want to fight but are unable to reach each other and are kept running in place on the treadmills.

The exhibit, titled “Art and China After 1989,” is being accused of animal abuse. In fact, a petition has already been launched demanding the Guggenheim remove the exhibit–before it even begins. “Art and China After 1989” is slated to open on October 6.

The Obama-funded project is made up of 150 controversial works by Chinese artists. Also included is “Theater of the World,” which consists of a see-through dome placed on top of a table. Inside the dome are hundreds of insects and reptiles–crickets, locusts, centipedes, and others.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s ironic response to Trump backfires; shows he is indeed a coward

The creatures crawl inside the dome under the hot light of an overhead lamp. The artists expect many of the insects to be devoured. Every so often, a local pet shop has been contracted to add new insects to the display.

The strange piece is meant to serve as a metaphor for China, which the artist sees as a constantly evolving “universe unto itself.” Although “Theater of the World” has been censured, most observers take greater issue with the accompanying piece and its treatment of pit bulls.

“Dogs That Cannot Touch Each Other” was created by husband-wife team Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. It dates back to 2003, when it was performed in front of an audience in Beijing. A video recording of the project is being shown at the Guggenheim.

Despite the criticism, Sun and Peng do not believe their work constitutes animal abuse. Peng remarked “Where is the soft spot in all of this? Were the dogs being abused? The answer should be no. These dogs are naturally pugnacious.”

She defended their artwork with a comparison to the Olympics: “In fact, human nature and animal nature are the same. China hosted the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. What is the goal of this type of sporting event? Actually, it is the conversion of actual fighting into regulated competition.”

The artists are known for their atypical moral views. Peng has said “Personally I think female artists in China are not as hard-working as male artists and their art is not as good as male artists.”

In 2000, Peng and Su made headlines in Shanghai with a performance piece titled “Body Link,” in which the couple transfused their own blood into the real-life corpses of conjoined babies. The couple described that piece as a “special kind of coming together.”

Guggenheim plans to press forward with the exhibit, taking advantage of the $300,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. As we deal with an ever-growing national debt, it’s good to know Obama put Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars to good use!

Meanwhile, even liberals want to stop this Obama “art project.”

“The work is a seven-minute video of a performance that was staged at a museum in Beijing in 2003, during which dogs were placed on non-motorized treadmills facing one another and prevented from making contact,” the museum said in a statement. “Contrary to some reports, no fighting occurred in the original performance and the presentation at the Guggenheim is in video format only; it is not a live event.”

Yeah, 'art'. Whatever. Whenever I pee my name into a snowbank, well that is art in its truest form - I plan to present an exhibition in January... 8O)

It’s natural that he would contribute to this cause; dog fighting is the sport of choice of his homies.

The Left, radicals, "progressives", liberals, marxists....including the two communist Chinese "artists" above.... have infected almost EVERYONE of our institutions....art, sports, science, theater, colleges and universities, journalism, medicine; music, politics, marriage, comedy, movies, the legal system....I could go on ad infinitum.

They not only infect, they DESTROY, as we are seeing today in pro football.

The above IS cruelty to animals, of the most exploitive kind. This pair of sadists should be deported immediately.

After the exhibit do they slaughter the dogs and have a barbecue?

Art is a subtle thing. A piece of sculpture did not make it to a London gallery in time for the opening. No one noticed. The empty plinth, and I am not making this up, got good reviews.

“Michael Vick was not injured in the making of this video.”

Would anyone care, if he was in fact injured?

This is animal abuse! Michael Vick had to sit out for years and went to jail, right?

“Were the dogs being abused?”

The dogs' faces did not get scarred by falling down stairs. I hope some New Yorker's file complaints, even if nothing becomes of it.
