FWIW the wild semi-invasive shrub called Burning Bush which gets brilliant red leaves in late autumn was called “wahoo” by the Native Americans.

It’s stems and leaves can be boiled for use as a very effective laxative.

Drink some and assume the position and you’ll go “WAHOO”!

If the Indians wanted a racist logo they could have chosen a drunken Indian clutching a bottle of fire water falling off his horse.

Instead they chose Chief Wahoo, a sort of Native American "Tillie," Coney Island's early 20th century symbol of the pure joy and unbridled enthusiasm.
