Fat Boy’s folks playing with more explosives would seem to be likely since rarely do earthquakes keep happening in exactly the same place over and over. Yes, it does happen but as frequent as the recent ones, I’m going to say “explosion”.

Oh, you mean Mount Paektu, on the border between North Korea and China? If we suddenly get a whole series of earthquakes there, I'd evacuate everything within 250 km (155 miles) of that mountain because of the potential an eruption as big as Tambora in 1815. And that's the type of eruption that could significantly cool Earth's climate for a decade or more.
