Behind the distractions about the NFL-ESPN etc. the quote about "electability".
Something always brought up to discredit conservative and or outsider candidates including Donald J. Trump himself countless times last year.
President Trump chose to make this speech under the cover of Friday night for the national audience, but I would not be surprised to see his remarks in video ads or hear his words in robocalls in final days of the campaign for the folks in Alabama.
We’re not worried about Moore’s odds in the general, Mr. President. We just want a solid, honest conservative in the Senate, and not a McConnell lackey.
It's Alabama, so he'll probably win, but if there's any candidate who'd say something incredibly stupid about rape and abortion, the way Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock did, and have his candidacy blow up and allow a Democrat to actually win a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, it's Roy Moore.
I don’t know who Trump’s political director is, and I don’t know what the polls in AL say about a Moore - D race, but I accept the possibility that Moore could lose a race that Strange could win.
Many Moore supporters will sit out the general election if he loses this rigged primary. Surely Trump must know this, so he evidently wants another Democrat in the Senate. That “togetherness with Chuck and Nancy” act is working out so well for him .
Trump is right though. Moores track record in elections does not inspire confidence.
There’s some validity to Trump’s assertion.
Roy Moore is definitely bordering on a caricature of the dumb southern redneck, denying the obvious in favor of what he learned in Sunday School.
Of course he is NOT that. But the media and ads will convince a large portion of the state electorate that he is.
I think folks in Alabama can decide if they are willing to risk a deflating loss with Moore, or an uncomfortable victory with Strange.
Personally, I’d have a hard time voting for either of them.
Ugh. He should stay out the damn primary altogether and find someone to run against that filthy hag in North Dakota that he called a good woman.
Very seldom have I disagreed with the President on an issue, hoping Judge Moore wins.
Methinks this is an unforced error by Trump, since there is no “upside” to getting involved.
Moore is a lock in the general, just like Trump was...not sure who is giving Trump advice but silly to hear him repeating nevertrump lines.
Trump should have phrased it differently to avoid having the words used against Moore.
Trump was not electable in 2016.
No wait...
Sounds like it because it is way off base and out in left field. We are talking about Alabama, a place that neither the President nor the lil Bitch is familiar with. Moore would slap dunk his rat opponent on an off presidential year.
