President Donald Trump criticized NFL players who lodge protests during the pregame national anthem, saying Friday night that he wished those players would be released and encouraging fans who are offended to walk out of stadiums.
Speaking at a political rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!"
Trump said the protests, which became public last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for a preseason national anthem, are "hurting the game."
Trump didn't mention Kaepernick or any other NFL player specifically during the speech. The QB opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason and has not been signed by a new team since.
"The only thing you could do better," Trump said, "is if you see it, even if it's just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway."
Trump went on to say referees are "ruining the game" by calling 15-yard penalties for "beautiful" tackles. He also said that NFL ratings are down "massively, massively" because people prefer watching him. NFL ratings dropped eight percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
An NFL spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Trump said.
I like the CFL, but I think the NFL knocks their games off once their regular season starts.
The word is getting out, and it's not good.

I can’t emphasize the importance of this. Earlier I had concluded that the only solution to our societal imbalance was official excoriation [fair debate rules/super majority support to prevent tyrannical misuse] via a constitutional amendment. But if the NFL yields to this, perhaps we can slowly steer back without one?
As much as I hate the Cowboys, Jerry Jones will not tolerate any disrespect to our Anthem on the field.
Trump’s use of ridicule is another form of excoriation to bring the required level of conformity for a society to properly function freely.
We need this kind of informal excoriation for limited government to function.

Actually, what will happen is the NFL won’t have a flag displayed or the anthem played and people will forget by the following season just like how quickly they forgot 9/11 when electing a muslim as POTUS.

While not President Trump's fault by any stretch, the politicization of everything in this country by the extremist alt-left is just too much. It's sickening and we're seeing the results of it.
When watching your favorite football team for the sake of enjoying the game with friends and escaping reality for just a little bit became a lecture from the progressive extremist left about why being white was so bad, it became time to stop watching the game.
ESPN, the NFL and all those who take a "knee" at an NFL game or sit on the bench during hte National Anthem and their ilk can go suck it.
