1 year in LA when the AFL was a minor league outfit is not their roots. When they left, no one in LA even knew they were there.

Barron Hilton owned the team, which played in LA for one year before Hilton moved the team to San Diego in 1961 where the Chargers played in Balboa Stadium (located behind my High School, San Diego High) for the next 7 years IIRC.

My friends and I used to love to watch Jack Kemp and Ron Mix practice, along with Lance Alworth (Bambi) who all of us girls drooled over. Our group remained close for years and we hated Sid Gilman FOREVER when he lost Jack Kemp on that stupid injury waiver SNAFU to "boo-boo-buffa-loo" over a jammed thumb.
