Common to see dogs in restaurants over there, from what I’ve heard.

Common in many areas of Europe. I once asked a German friend why Germans took their dogs to restaurants, but not their kids. (It was rare to see a German family with children at a restaurant.) His response? “Because their dogs are better behaved than their children.”
