Republicans Attempt to Buy Murkowski's Vote in New Draft of Health Care Bill

A Republican Senate aide told Independent Journal Review Thursday that Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) are attempting to buy Sen. Lisa Murkowski's support through new changes to their controversial Obamacare repeal proposal before an expected vote next week.

According to the aide, here is a summary of what the new draft of the bill entails:

"This draft includes 3 separate provisions benefitting Alaska.

1. Alaska (along with Hawaii) will continue to receive Obamacare’s premium tax credits while they are repealed for all other states. It appears this exemption will not affect Alaska receiving its state allotment under the new block grant in addition to the premium tax credits.

2. Delays implementation of the Medicaid per capita caps for Alaska and Hawaii for years in which the policy would reduce their funding below what they would have received in 2020 plus CPI-M.

3.Provides for an increased federal Medicaid matching rate (FMAP) for both Alaska and Hawaii."

The changes aren't final, and it remains to be seen whether they'll be enough to win Murkowski's vote.

We were critical of the Dems doing this to pass obama care. It was bad then and it`s worse now because Repubs know better.

Why not? We all now what she is. The only question, as Churchill once said, is the price.

When do we get to see the bill? 10 minutes before the vote? If linda is involved, I know it is a POS. Probably worse then obumbercare 1.0.

I’m sure she will hold out for generous funding for Planned Parenthood. The woman has . . . principles.

If we are going to play that game (and we may have to), I’d rather pay off a wobbly Dem like Manchin, with some special special “coal miners displaced by Obama environmental policies” benefit. If you pay off a bad Republican, you get more bad Republicans. I’d rather have more bad Democrats.

It’s basically allowing Alaska to keep Obamacare in exchange for repealing (sort of) Obamacare everywhere else.

What was wrong for Progressive Democrats is equally wrong for Republicans. Convince your colleagues with facts and truths and leave their political futures to their constituents.

The GOP swamp creatures let the deadline—September 30th—sneak up on them. Now they’re in a panic lather because they promised repeal, and Trump will call them dishonest failures if they can’t get it done.

Being Uniparty stooge senators hasn’t been as much fun since Trump got elected.

At this point, I don’t care with Murkowski. If she wants some readjustment of the formulas for Alaska, I can understand it, they have logistical issues with a huge state and a very small population.

The bottom line is that this is the best chance to roll back Obamacare. Total repeal will never happen with this Senate, you have to take what you can get. It’s called the art of the possible.

Yup,the same shady BS deals that brought us Obunghole care. Inquiring minds want to know where all of that money went.I have a good idea. I hate these swamp creatures.

I still want to find out what they had on Roberts for him to make one of the top five worst Supreme Court rulings in American history.
