A Catholic priest has been dismissed from his parish in Nebraska after asking middle schoolers if they've ever masturbated or watched pornography during weekly confession.

I bet those are NOT the only sins he asks about.
But they are “politically correct” sins that the present-day perverted secular culture pretends to be virtues.

Gaydar is real, and this guy scores off the charts. I suspect his interest in these children was more than just clerical. Get him away from kids for the rest of his career, or perhaps our of the Church.
Did he also ask them what they were wearing when these ‘sins’ were committed? Too much, Padre, way way too intrusive.

The idea is that the confessor CONFESSES his or her sins voluntarily. Not that they be dragged out of them in a cross-examination.

Another possibility. Several students don’t like the grades they got from him in Religion class, see all the kids trashing their teachers on the internet, and decide to report him. He cannot say anything because of the seal of confession. Bingo - he’s gone. Has happened to two priests I know. At least that’s my best guess since I know them both and they are good and holy men. Look for more of this.

Hm. While I think it was extremely inappropriate, don’t public school sex education classes talk about masturbation and porn, and even encourage it and provide instruction?
In any case, it appears to be a Catholic school, so many people send their kids there specifically to avoid this nonsense.
“Fifty years in the church of Rome” by Charles Chiniquy went into this scam in great detail. He was a priest in the 1800s. Pervert priests pryed deeply into such sexual topics at a girl’s first confession. The girls were buffaloed into thinking if they lied or refused to answer, they would be damned.

Another real possibility is that this is just a young inexperienced priest who is overzealous in guiding the students in what are known to be common, yet unacknowledged, sins. The amount of rash judgment here against this priest is an offense against charity.
