Places of worship and private charities in Texas and Florida are playing a pivotal role in the recovery effort from hurricanes Harvey and Irma because so many storm victims are immigrants in the country illegally and therefore ineligible for federal disaster aid.
FEMA rules allow people in the country illegally to apply for disaster aid on behalf of children under 18 years old with legal status, but many worry about the government sharing information with immigration authorities.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is hosting workshops for immigrants to explain FEMA eligibility and answer other questions.

Then start taxing the Churches, if they are going to help those who violate their laws, they can help pay for their upkeep.
“...because so many storm victims are immigrants in the country illegally and therefore ineligible for federal disaster aid.”
WHAT? They get every freakin’ OTHER THING paid for by the Taxpayers! How did the Socialists miss this one? Look for legislation any day now to change this...

Irma-grants?
Doesn’t matter who shelters them...the issue is they KNOW they have no right being here illegally....
I detest it when officials bring ‘Oh for the children” into these issues as an emotional leverage. Demobrats kill the unborn but suddenly think kids are important ONLY when it comes to illegals.
They are, however, eligible for free transportation back to their country of origin.
Hispanic citizen parents can't find jobs
due to illegal aliens,... children suffer!
"Help us - Please help us!
We are criminal invaders and parasites and all those mean old
Americans want to send us home and stop giving us free stuff!"
And Mexico is going to need folks to help rebuild down there after the Earthquake.
I believe the Christian church a duty to help all victims of a disaster to the extent possible with the resources they have - regardless of their status. They are still human beings. This DOES NOT mean an indefinite “sanctuary” should be provided once the crisis situation is over.
They all knew there was always the chance of being deported when they came her ILLEGIALLY.
If I have to be all grown-up, mature, and responsible, in my own country, then I’m sure as hell not cutting any slack with INVADING FOREIGNERS. They’re here to suck us dry, live by their own laws, and give illegal votes to democrats.
No mercy from me.

Wouldn’t they normally turn to churches for relief anyway?
Well, they certainly are well fed.
That is a completely valid statement. However, the next thing that should be done is that they should be reported to Immigration. They have been fed, they have been clothed, and they have been sheltered .. in the church until ICE gets there. After that, they will be fed, clothed, and sheltered while being held for deportation.
SO many thieves
I can’t disagree with that.
Calling all church-going ICE agents:
Time to volunteer for the post-hurricane relief efforts at your place of worship. — Fish in a barrel!
Does someone who puts themselves in harm’s way have a right to claim to be a victim by being here illegally?
