On Fri., Sept. 15, Secretary of the Interior (SOI) Ryan Zinke signed Secretarial Order 3356, continuing the Department of Interiors (DOI) efforts to support sportsmen and women and enhance conservation stewardship. The order seeks to improve wildlife management and conservation, increase access to public lands for hunting, shooting and fishing and puts a greater emphasis on the promoting outdoor activities among youth, veterans and minority communities.
-----SNIP-----
As noted in the DOI press release, SO 3356 directs bureaus within the department to:
1. Within 120 days produce a plan to expand access for hunting and fishing on BLM, USFWS and NPS land.
2. Amend national monument management plans to ensure the public's right to hunt, fish and target shoot.
3. Expand educational outreach programs for underrepresented communities such as veterans, minorities and youth.
4. In a manner that respects the rights and privacy of the owners of non-public lands, identify lands within their purview where access to Department lands, particularly access for hunting, fishing, recreational shooting and other forms of outdoor recreation, is currently limited (including areas of Department land that may be impractical or effectively impossible to access via public roads or trails under current conditions, but where there may be an opportunity to gain access through an easement, right-of-way or acquisition) and provide a report detailing such lands to the Deputy Secretary.
5. Within 365 days, cooperate, coordinate, create, make available and continuously update online a single one stop Department site database of available opportunities for hunting, fishing and recreational shooting on Department lands. Improve wildlife management through collaboration with state, Tribal, territorial and conservation partners.

Thank You Mr. Trump
Winning!
The Sierra Club just had a collective heart attack.
This is something to be celebrated. Now, get a handle on the Pittman Robertson funds. Build those shooting ranges and boat ramps. No more international junkets to anti-hunting and gun control meetings.
I could very easily get used to this kind of winning. Thank you Secretary Zinke.
LOL! Never let a crisis go to waste...right back at ya Bronco Bama.
Ping-Worthy?
I got back into motorcycling a couple years ago, I ride a ton in the woods/mountains of WA State.
This is great and very welcome news for the entire country!!!
Thank you, we need more backcountry to hunt, or at least I do.
Yeah.
Lemme know when Zinke signs up to turning all that “federal” property into private land since he quit the Republican convention over that concept being part of the party plank.
Until then, it’s all just eyewash.
Imagine, citizens having more access to public land. The last administration wouldn't like that.
Good job.
Cheers!

Don’t the minorites and youth get enough “hunting” and target practice in the inner cities??
Mr. Zinke refused to meet the Bundy Family when he was in the their land area and is keeping most of Barack Obama’s designations regarding “national monuments” with some minor modifications.
As Cliven Bundy’s wife said, Zinke can decide to help the Bundy’s by dropping charges since they came from Bureau of Land Management inside the Department of Interior to begin with.
Ryan Zinke is not doing the right thing on Obama’s national monuments or the Bundy’s.
This is Republican Party propaganda, not the true story of Zinke’s tenure related to Bundy’s or Obama’s national monument designations, which he was kept mostly intact.
