I think you will be proven right about J. McCain.
His job = Himself. Many men of that generation are that way, for better or worse. Now many men AND women identify as such.
It will be that much more difficult if Universal Guaranteed Income really takes hold within the next twenty years.

The problem in Venezuela with Obamacare is not that it has been poorly implemented, but that it has been faithfully implemented.

The Graham bill has plenty not to like in it, but its still better than Obamacare. Graham needs to convince his boyfriend McCain to get on board. Time is running out.

“Suddenly” in danger? Laughing my A$$ off. It was in danger when it was conceived by the stinking Dems. Only NBC can post a headline that it is “suddenly” in danger and that (surprise!) coincides with the Trump presidency.

"Obamacare Is Suddenly in Grave Danger. Here’s Why."

Wondering if NBC wrote the headline "Smallpox Is Suddenly in Grave Danger. Here’s Why." when the disease was about to be eradicated.

Obamacare is in trouble but there is no danger of market based medicine breaking out.Block grants to the states is big big incentive for the states to do their own Government medicine or “Health Care.” in the meantime there will still be a tremendous amount of Federal controls and costs imposed on all of Medicine.

Primary the RINOs and get a new set of RINOs. A sizable portion of the RINOs in Congress were originally elected as Principled Conservatives. They get to DC and find out what the options are and what foing along is worth to their futures and become RINOs within 24 hours, maybe 24 minutes.

If they are going to do block grants then the bill should include the language allowing the President to authorize withholding funds from any state or locale identified as a sanctuary for illegals or that refuse to enforce federal law.

Exactly. I never read anything media trash headline that ends in “here’s why.” It’s like a flashing neon sign that says, “Huge load of propaganda right here folks!”

Lee, while your argument may make some sense, it still grates me something fierce. Here’s shy.

It lets (at least partially) McCain off the hook by the inference he’s no worse than many other men (with regard to this aspect of him) in his age group.

Oh, hell yes he is!

This man is as vile as they come, baring physical attacks.

With his support for arming and funding terrorists, he even exhibited that trait.

Just repeal it, and primary any GOP who votes against repeal.

Okay, let's say we pretend that McConnell was willing to get rid of the phony-60-vote-filibuster. Now you need 50 in the Senate.

Let us further surmise we have the House. Unlikely without weaselly amendments, but great!

We know we have Paul, Mike Lee, Cruz.Let's further suppose we get squishes like Issakson, who just won reelection and will likely be too old to run again in five years.

In the end we still have to contend with Susan Collins, John McCain, and Lisa Murkowski. None of them will vote for a straight repeal. Getting primaried doesn't scare Murkowski; she's bought off enough people. McCain will die before he gets a primary. Collins doesn't have a primary until 2020, and unless LePage takes her on, has no serious Republican who would challenge her.

Where do we get vote #50?

I’m not talking about Medicare, medicaid, EMTALA, CHIP, etc. These should be incrementally rolled back.

I am talking about ZeroCare, which was done in one fell stroke with parliamentary procedures. Repealing it should be the same.

The GOP is spineless and worthless.

See post #35, especially the last sentence.

When the Dem leaders want something, they whip their congresscritters/senators into voting for it. The Rep leaders could do the same, if they really wanted it.

I agree. But we also noticed there wasn't the hint of a threat by McConnell to strip chairmanships or anything like that in the last vote, and a McCain or a Collins or a Murkowski has enough chits in other places accumulated to strike back if McConnell tried, which he wouldn't anyway. We are along ways away from having the kind of Senate that will be able to whip up votes in support of base issues.
