Dallas ISD is researching the histories of Ben Franklin, Sam Houston, Thomas Jefferson and 17 other historical figures, looking into whether their connections with slavery or the Confederacy should prompt reconsideration of their names on DISD campuses.
Last Thursday, DISD administration recommended changing the names of four schools honoring Confederate generals: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Albert Sidney Johnston and William L. Cabell elementary schools. During that discussion, it was mentioned that there is a much broader list of at least 21 names that bear further investigation, if trustees were compelled to do so.
Pitch forks is more or less an expression meant to signify that people with determination have gone out to the streets because they simply will not take it any longer.
I don’t expect to see anyone out there with an actually pitchfork.
These men of historic nature, are significant.
The Left has gone too far.
Enough!
They should be tarred and feathered, and ridden out of town on a rail, and dumped in the desert to fend for themselves.
They should find out what is in their job description - like deal with EDUCATION. I’m sure there is something else to do!
No...they don’t require “research”...they require being left as they are. Grrrrr
Pinging the Texans. All this stupidity needs to stop!
And how many buckets of money shall they p*ss away on studying the name changes, let alone actually changing the names on signs, letterhead, websites, etc?
The Dallas Independent School District webpage is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, and spotlighting Cesar Chavez.
According to their budget, they receive funding from all three levels of government. Why is government funding an indoctrination centre for Mexico?
How fricken insane. What are they gonna do next? Rename Houston?
I will be embarrassed for the south if they let this happen.
I dont mind folks bashing Manhattan because it is what it is. a liberal nightmare.
But he who has a yuge mosque in his midst and may now erase our founding fathers’ names from history, should not cast stones.
That’s what I was thinking.
It’s just absurd.
At least the Sam Houston Institute of Technology doesn't have to be renamed, since they thought better of naming the place that to begin with.
The left dreams of “purple” Texas. They will get it soon enough along with Florida if we squander this opportunity with President Trump to get things on track especially immigration, vote fraud and the Talibanning of America. If not, the GOP will never win a presidential election or have U.S. Senate majority again.
They ain’t got nothin’ better to do than to change the names of some skools?
The fight over textbooks usually occurs in California (which now requires that homosexuals must be including in history, etc.) and Texas.
This culture war will be coming to the textbook selection committees/panels next.
Communist Howard Zinn’s anti-American history is already used in some schools in this country.
Brown nationalists demanded it.
They are still upset about Mexico losing a war and hope for reconquista/secession.
They believe this land is “stolen” and theirs by “birthright”.
How long do you figure before they foolishly change the name of the Cotton Bowl (both the Dallas stadium and the annual game)?
Dallas is not Texas...it, Houston and Austin are the outhouses of Texas..
Every major city in America now should be considered a belligerent city state (and some smaller ones, too). Trump needs to bring the hammer down and to hell with leftist judges.
