A St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter is among the 80 people arrested by St. Louis police late Sunday after protests in the city turned combative.
The newspaper reports on its website that Mike Faulk was covering the protest and its aftermath when he was taken into custody as police cleared a street early Monday. The report doesnt say if Faulk has been charged or released. City police say they will release a statement later.

I wonder if he was caught up in Speaking Truth to Power?
If the police ask you to vacate and area and you refuse to, guess what happens.
Break his face...
You’re supposed to REPORT THE NEWS, NOT BE THE NEWS!...................
this will end badly for the cops... as it always does.
You don’t pick fights with someone who buys ink by the barrel.
In that town, like many cites all over this country, the cops are already very hated. Now they are guaranteed more bad press coverage of their daily stupidity.
But then again more often than not the cops bring this crap upon themselves
We know that the press has become little more than political activists these days.
Strangely enough, we have folks even on our side who immediately side with them against the police.
The police are the ONLY people who stand between those rioters and you, your business, and your city.
Frankly, the officers had a green light from me to start using deadly force against rioter throwing bricks at them.
I’d be hard pressed to really give a damn if they started shooting looters.
Any reporter too stupid to stay out of that mix, is a fool.
Anyone who defends him for it... well.
The police are the ONLY people who stand between those rioters and you, your business, and your city.
Thanks for that laugh... but history has shown us that the largest riots in our country, all caused by the police and their treatment of the people they profess to serve... The 92 LA Riots, 65 Watts Riots, 67 Detroit Riots, 68 Chicago Riots, 66 Cleveland Riots, Cincinnati 2001... etc...
Remember the day when reporters didn’t dress like slobs?
I’ve seen a bunch of them in person in the last couple years and they are all sloppy and slovenly.
Total B.S.
Yep, that’s the Black Panther sound-byte all the way back to the 60s, but it’s complete bull “S”.
Rodney King NEVER COMPLIED with the directive to remain on the ground after he was pulled over driving under the influence, speeding, and evading the police.
The person in the car with him did comply and was taken into custody without incident.
King made up his mind he would never comply, and minutes into the video rarely played in full context, he was still trying to get up on all four and stand up.
One female office that had already fixed her weapon on him ready to use deadly force, was replaced by larger men who tried not to use deadly force.
King overpowered those officers at first. He was a very large powerful man. He was not easy to subdue.
The Black Community egged on by the media who incited folks to riot, did when the verdicts were brought in.
Those officers DID NOT deserve what they got.
King would not submit to being handcuffed and taken into custody.
What do you think would happen to you in these circumstances?
Perhaps you think the officers should have backed off and allowed him to collide with some family on their way home.
You sir are a douche canoe.
Resorting to childish name calling...
“Youre supposed to REPORT THE NEWS, NOT BE THE NEWS!...................!”
The faux reporters for decades haven’t understood that concept in the field, at a press conference or in a riot.
So you can understand. You uneducated dolt and cop hater.
“You dont pick fights with someone who buys ink by the barrel.”
I think Trump has broken that once timeless adage.
Please. They’ve been known to gather up people first and ask questions later.
The police in St. Louis had made it know they weren’t going to put up with nonsense this time around. They used pepper spray and pushed the rioters out of downtown.
I actually wanted them to be more violent against the protesters.
Rioters should not be able to get away with it. They should be totally subdued and prevented from causing more damage.
If you’re out there trying to deal with direct threats to your safety, even your life, you’re not going to be thinking about reporter’s rights first.
When the police announce and area is going to be cleared, they mean an area is going to be cleared.
Reports can withdraw to a safe distance and observe. If they decide to go toe to toe with the police and tell the police what they will or won’t do, the police will arrest them.
As much as I do defend the free press, I also defend the right of the police to control space in situations like this.
I’m not saying they shouldn’t be permitted to control space as you put it but you’re making plenty of assumptions in this case no?
I’ve personally witnessed the sort em out later actions i mentioned. Wrong place wrong time and court appearances and such make it a giant pain.
