It appears Democrats and liberals in the media now realize these riots are hurting the Democratic party. Thus, the reason they are being downplayed.

St. Louis has been a center of militant activity in recent years following the police shooting incidents.
It extends out pretty far because I saw “Ferguson” t-shirts on people in the middle of Illinois when I passed through last year on my vacation.
STL is potentially dangerous for travelers because of the potential for road blockages and or attacks on the interstates.
I passed through the area when the tensions were low but this weekend I would not have even considered travelling the interstates in the STL area.
I thought that the purpose of street theater was impressing the audience. What if they held a riot and nobody came?
Saw one story on FR about cops hit with rocks. Other than that nothing.
Without top cover from the Justice Department to restrain the police, they can’t get the local kids to run wild looting.
So it is mainly just a few busloads of out of town communist agitators trying to run from one part of town to another every couple of hours for some flash mob vandalism, trying to look like they are a bunch of spontaneous outbursts.
The Feds should prosecute the dozens who have been arrested. Squeeze them, flip them, and roll up the network.

It was the lead story on our local TV Sunday night news, also. (No, I’m not in MO or the St. Louis area, unless you count being over 3-1/2 hours away as being “in the area”.)
