Hurricane Jose has been hanging around, waiting for attention in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Newcomer Maria threatens to impact the Caribbean Islands already devastated by Hurricane Irma, and brushed by Jose. Hurricane Jose threatens to brush or impact New England. Lee appears to be a fish storm at this time.

While the talking point is that this is the “most active” season, Rita shot up between Texas and Louisiana roughly this week the same year Katrina hit New Orleans around Labor Day.

We are still only at “M” this year (5 fewer named storms).
And Hurricane Ike was Cat 4 (I’ve been hearing it repeated that Harvey was the first big storm in a decade)

That stream stopped about an hour ago.
It’s actually worse for the storm to just miss to the south of St. Croix, they get the dirty side without any relief from the eye.
The latest was maybe down to a 4. This storm is very strong.

sort of like living off grid...using your generator 1.5-2 hours twice a day and timing washing, cooking etc each time, in order to save on run time and diesel fuel. Its not so bad if everything is planned for a twice a day power usage..keeps the freezer and fridge cold, water well pressure tank filled, and warm water in the water heater too. You just have to get what you need out of the fridge/freezer at once and quickly. Initial cost isnt too bad...about what most people blow on entertainment for 1-2 years, for a genset, 200 gal of red diesel, and a transfer switch. Mine was about 7K total.
They are going to fast food because it takes 2 hours to get the food.They get fast food and crash.Most of the crews are leaving Florida.My Daughter’s husband still there to do specialized work.Staying over her house tonight to keep her and her 5 year old son company.Watched LITTLE Vampire for the first time.:)
Definitely trending more westerly now, maybe, the eye might miss St. Croix.
I was listening to the Meterologist on Fox who had projected we would have these....he said we aren’t over the season til even the end of November.....that Sandy and Wilma hit the end of October...so there could be more yet to come.
THAT is wicked! PR will never be the same if aria hits full 5..or even 4 since all their infrastructure was very weak even before Irma ..according to the Mayor Of San Jaun.

If I recall the story correctly, immediately after Jose & Maria complete their journey, we should expect the arrival of El Niño.

I think the eye may graze, but the eye wall, with the strong winds and the surge to the right side of the eye, appears to line up with the west end of the island.

To me it doesn’t make sense naming an alphabetical storm Jose. Josie I could see.
It’s like spelling something out on the phone and saying “P” as in “psychology”.

Ballpark figure for withdrawal under tension on a 16 penny nail, 200 pounds, but it takes around 2000 to shear one off.
Rafters and joists, toenailed into place, not even close to 200 pounds of resistance. I’ve ripped them out with one hand. The harder the wood, the more it splits and won’t hold.
