Whenever I see path to citizenship I see circumventing the path to citizenship.

I agree - when Dims use the term. I was using it in it's correct form - the legal path to US citizenship. I am quite familiar with the requirements since my wife had to go through it. One thing they don't mention on the page is the legal fees for filing. The "dreamers" should be held to the same standard as anyone else. That includes the interviews and background and security checks. They should not get a waiver on anything.

I wouldn't mind these folks being considered for permanent residency, but in exchange, I'd require additional punishment for violating immigration laws. In addition to what is required under normal immigration requirements, those admitted under this program must be forever forbidden from acquiring citizenship, the right to vote, AND the privileges of family reunification. That their parents abandoned them in a strange land, or secreted them here, or if they stole into the country on their own, is enough to realize they left everything behind.

If they are willing to apply for citizenship, they may do so and get to the back of the line. And by the way, the back of the line is IN their native country.
