Shocker: new movie about Chappaquiddick tells the truth (What did Ted Kennedy do?)
American Thinker ^ | 09/12/2017 | Thomas Lifson

The power of the Kennedy clan seems to be fading, no longer able to prevent the production of an indie film that no only tells the truth, but which has earned the praise of the show business bible, Variety. Steven Hayward of Powerline spotted the anomaly:

I paid no attention to the fact that Hollywood was producing a biopic of Ted Kennedy’s famous “accident” at Chappaquiddick in 1969, and would have assumed that it was a typical gauzy pro-Kennedy puff piece if I had known. But Variety magazine, the main trade journal of Hollywood, offers a review that not only says that the forthcoming movie Chappaquiddick is suitably harsh on Teddy, but that he—and the Kennedy reputation—deserve it:

The film says that what happened at Chappaquiddick was even worse than we think. Kopechne’s body was found in a position that implied that she was struggling to keep her head out of the water. And what the film suggests is that once the car turned upside down, she didn’t die; she was alive and then drowned, after a period of time, as the water seeped in. This makes Edward Kennedy’s decision not to report the crime a clear-cut act of criminal negligence — but in spirit (if not legally), it renders it something closer to an act of killing.

The entire review is well worth reading here. It turns out that Variety has been following the progress of the movie for quite some time now. Recall that the family patriarch Joe Kennedy was a major force in Hollywood, and kept one of the biggest female stars, Gloria Swanson, as one of his mistresses, while sons Jack and Bobby enjoyed the favors of Marilyn Monroe, herself also the biggest female star. That is clout!

If Hollywood makes a real movie I predict it will be extremely popular. Truth plays better than propaganda these days.

I read years ago Mary Jo was pregnant with Teds child, and that the real conspiracy here was, Mary Jo revealed that to Ted that week. Ted may have killed her to hide that fact

The media of that time was trying to make the Kennedy’s America’s royalty. Well perhaps so what with possible inbreeding within the clan.

Yep, could be. There are many unexplained things about what happened. She may well have been pregnant.

The party at Chappaquiddick was a bit strange. Six men, many if not all married, were partying with six single women.

The Kennedys cleaned out the rented house where the party was held, and evacuated everyone off the island before law enforcement could talk to anyone. I think many if not all the girls there were campaign workers or somehow involved in politics and lived mostly in the Washington area. They were spirited away from Chappaquiddick before any contact with the investigation into the death of Mary Jo.

The house was cleaned up, with all evidence of alcohol or anything else removed and disposed of.

Clearly there was a cover up going on there.

Besides booze which most everybody associates old man Joe Kennedy with. He also owned or had control over RKO Radio Pictures a producer of what was known as “B” movies which were seen throughout the US which proved to be a usefull media connection later when JFK ran .

I never understood how the Kennedys became American royalty. Yes it was tragic that Pres. Kennedy was assassinated, but did that somehow make the family some royalty????

The whole Camelot thing was a fabrication of Jackie Kennedy’s imagination. This was the legend spun after JFK was killed, and planted in the media.

The media only referred to Camelot in retrospect. It’s not as if, on Jan 20, 1961, everyone started saying, well, now that Kennedy is president, we’re now in the Camelot era. Nobody said we are in the Camelot era while JFK was alive. It was only referred to as Camelot after he died.

I seem to remember reading that she suffocated before the water level came up. I may be wrong about that, but even so still a pretty horrible way to die.

Kennedy complained at his trial that Mary Jo was punching him as he exited the car. That's because he was stepping on her.

Poor Teddie. That mean girl was a real meanie.

From Owen Gleiberman's review:
it’s really a fascinating study of how corruption in America works."

If so, the movie will be a landmark.

This is exactly what the honest people of the world hunger for: Truth--Truth for its own sake--and the honest exposure of corruption.

Not a "story" that is slanted one way or another--no distortion--merely the simple, unadulterated truth.

Corruption, dishonesty, scorn of truth, the politicization of everything are rampant in America. They have defiled America's institutions from the most venerable to the most frivolous, from the IRS, FBI, universities, the free press, the military high command, the court system, grammar schools to Hollywood and the Miss America Contest. Truth is held in contempt.

Millions of people are perfectly content with this, many of them probably don't understand what's going on anyway. They don't realize--or don't care--that this is a fundamental part of the internal moral rot that destroys civilizations.

But honest people are appalled and are determined to correct this situation. President Trump is their champion.

A couple years ago, the Reelz channel had a great mini series documentary, “The Kennedys”, which was not very pro-Kennedy. There was an interesting segment on Chappaquiddick and seems to follow the truth.

I saw a video where, while he was a serious contender for POTUS, he just FROZE during an interview question and it smashed his chances.

Don’t remember the interviewer or the time.

Don’t know if you were around back then, but there was a lot of gushing over Kennedy even before the election. Eisenhower was a very grandfatherly midwesterner and here was JFK, young, fresh, almost aristocratic with cute little kids and a glamours wife. The press gushed over them. People do forget that the election was very close (some say stolen). But the day of the assassination, Kennedy became a martyr in the public’s eye.

They couldn’t wait to name things for him—NY’s airport, schools, Cape Canaveral, etc. etc. Had to put him on the half dollar. He was said to be one of America’s greatest presidents. It’s taken a half century for the luster to start to fade.
