Three Portland police supervisors announced Friday that the Portland Police Bureau would halt its more than two-decade practice of designating gang members on Oct. 15.
Portland police next month will end their more than 20-year-old practice of designating people as gang members or gang associates in response to strong community concerns about the labels that have disproportionately affected minorities.
The Police Bureau recognizes that the gang designations have led to "unintended consequences'' and served as lifelong barriers for those who have shunned the gang lifestyle and tried to get jobs, said Acting Tactical Operations Capt. Andy Shearer.

The federal government needs to get involved in the university issue, and force schools to level out their teaching faculty. There’s no reason why Conservative and patriotic tax dollars should be used solely to support a 90% Leftist environment on university campuses.
Hit them with their own “diversity” stick!
Stop loading the faculty against the nation.
It must be at least 45/55 or no federal dollars.
I would even go so far as to state that a university needs to be 45/55 or their academic degree program will no longer be recognized by the federal government.
Let them graduate students that cannot take part in the sciences programs in our nation.

Oregon was a sensible state until overrun by Californians. Everyone should spend some time in Portland to learn the meaning of dystopia. On the other hand, towns like Medford, and some in eastern Oregon are filled with solid people. Its like California 100 miles from the beach.
Just about to turn his life around, but the stigma of having the government put the word “gang” in his file has ruined his self-confidence, and destroyed his motivation to get that job as a schoolteacher.
This idiocy isn’t “mildly amusing” any more. It is downright dangerous.
