Trump Makes 'Friends' Outside GOP
Town Hall ^ | Sep 10, 2017 | Debra J. Saunders

WASHINGTON -- Meet President Donald Trump's new best friends. He calls them "Chuck and Nancy," not Senate Minority Leader Schumer or House Minority Leader Pelosi.

He met with them Wednesday morning, along with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan. The sit-down ended with Trump breezing past the GOP's wish list and giving Democrats what they wanted, a three-month extension of government funding to avoid a shutdown, an increase in the debt ceiling and aid for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Later that afternoon, appearing before supporters in North Dakota, Trump crooned about their "great bipartisan meeting."

Sure, his administration just rescinded the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, which gave temporary work permits and deportation protections to undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children. Still, he told reporters, "Chuck and Nancy would like to see something happen" to restore the policy, "and so do I."

Then Thursday morning, at Pelosi's request, Trump posted a reassuring tweet, "For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about -- No action!"

".....Trump gave Democrats what they wanted at a time when Congress needed to raise the debt ceiling to avoid financial default, ....

It is not possible to face national default - the FEDS bring in much more cash each month than is needed to pay the interest on the national debt. IF DEFAULT were to occur it would be Trump's fault based on his decision to NOT pay the national debt interest FIRST.

The nation's debt has to be paid first - we went through this scare tactic with Barry Insane.

Blah blah blah - if Ryan/McConnell and the rest of the GOPe/RINOs would get their act together things would be different. They have forced Trump to take “extraordinary measures”...

It's a natural alliance. I think Trump's a big spender at heart.

When you meet a roadblock that prevents you from reaching your goal, find another route. Looks like trump is going to do just that and hopefully wake up the sleeping obstructionist rinos. Time to show that HE, Trump is the President, NOT the other way around. I expect to see some change in attitude in the not to distant future if the rinos expect to stay afloat.

Brit Hume said Trump was rolled by Nancy and Chuck because they won’t be behind him on the wall.

“I think Trump’s a big spender at heart. “

Trump is a nationalist and a populist. He will do whatever necessary to promote his nationalist policies. Pragmatic Nationalism requires massive gubmint mobilization. Trump’s focus is on immigration enforcement and strong military. If he has to ignore other issues, he wants the Wall, illegal immigration numbers slashed, and a strong military. Nationalism can involve bits and pieces of conservatism, liberalism, even environmentalism. This is going to be an interesting 4 and 8 years.

Taking a path through quicksand is ill advised.

I think it's more that he has a big heart. In business, he prides himself at keeping costs down and efficiency in all of its aspects.

It was sincere to have finally said "enough" with callous Ryan and his enablers who voted him to lead them twice. Holding up financing for disaster relief for political posturing was not something he would tolerate.

The Republicans don't care. It's their job to win a few elections and keep America safe for obscene profits for their puppetmasters.

Our great and glorious Maximum Leader, DJT, has destroyed the Bushes, the Clintons, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, the GOPe, DNC and is working on stomping the Chamber of Commerce. The political order is crumbling under his massive golden pompadour and I’m loving it!

Maybe Trump's sentence wasn't comlete. It should have read...

"For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about -- No action...during this time! But once the 6 months is up...you better be heading home"

NeverTrump “conservatives” allied with the GOPe in 2016.

They would rather drink bleach than criticize their beloved Mitch and Ryan.

You can't outspend a Democrat. Trump may find this out the hard way.

All on that list except Levin. I know there are some that wish Levin were destroyed. Well it hasn’t happened and it won’t. He still has millions of followers, another best selling book, a 10 year multi million contract and a successful radio show.

Just because there are some that wish to hold their ears and yell lalalala and wish the boogie man away at the faintest hint of critiquing our President doesn’t make it so. He supports our President and yes the s critical of him at the same time. He won’t commit to a slobbering love affair like was done with the last President because it’s about the position and not the person

Levin demonstrated his political impotency during the primary & again during the election. In the former he actively campaigned against him, which is fine, but in the latter he mostly sat on his hands. That for me is unforgivable. He’s irrelevant.

To me it’s now PERFECTLY CLEAR what the Republican Leadership plan has been:

1) Deny Trump any major victories (particularly ending Obamacare and the wall). Hopefully, at that point Trump’s supporters will start giving up on him...and that is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL for the next step - which is removal from office.

2) Hope that Mueller comes up with that smoking gun. If Trump is first weakened, then consider moving in for the kill, Impeachment.

3) If the above is not possible, but Trump is still weakened, even a little, then Primary him out in 2020.

What really gives their plan away is the Wall. The Republicans have a HUGE MAJORITY in the House, the Wall costs next to nothing (by government standards), and possibly nothing if they go after Mexico for funding. Yet the Republican leadership won’t even consider it...passing the Wall, at least in the House should have taken all of 5 minutes. Now the Senate could well be tougher...and might even stop the Wall in Conference. But the Wall would be a BARGAINING CHIP, and could well be traded for things like E-Verify, ending birthright citizenship, immigration limits.

But no...the Republicans refuse to even consider it...which means that they want to be able to go their voters (i.e., us) and say: “We told you so, Trump was never going to get you the Wall. He lied to you, it’s time for new blood in the White House.”

The bottom line is that TRUMP was to look ineffective and useless. However, that just changed, now the ones looking ineffective and useless are the Republican leaders in Congress - with Ryan’s Speakership in jeopardy.

It’s called a primary. You hitch your wagon to a cantidate as many of us did. I’ve the cantidate is selected you get behind said cantidate. Levin did and he voted for him. Perhaps you are betting your information second hand. I actually listen to his show every day and he is behind Trump and has been since the election. Yes he is also critical of him as he should be. He isn’t a worshipper nor should we be

AMEN!!! President Trump is fighting for AMERICA and HER PEOPLE...if it means going around a ‘mole hill’ to get what will help, so be it...

Maybe we need new blood in Congress, some have made it their ‘bread and breakfast Inn’ for to many years...

We would like a wall; We would like better wages and jobs; We would like to have a Budget; We would like to have a NON government health care plan; we would like to see the Dreams of Our Children, not another country’s children’s dreams...

Do what you have to President Trump to “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
