... "In this time of stress on our fuel supply system, why wouldn't we remove a barrier that would allow E15 to be sold less than two weeks before the allowable date of Sept. 15," said Paige Anderson, director of government relations at the Association for Convenience and Petroleum Retailing, representing gasoline station owners and convenience store chains that sell fuel. ...

Lobbyists at it again. We are about to have Millions without power, and the Ethanol industry lobbies to have 15% ethanol in all the fuel, guaranteed to ruin the generators of all those people who need them. Who is watching out for ordinary, non-urban Americans? We NEED small engines to maintain our properties (like chainsaws to cut up fallen trees) and be prepared for emergencies (generators), and it's getting harder and harder to keep them running. Additives do NOT always work, although I don't know whether they just basically aren't that effective, or if it's a quality control issue with the factories that make it.

They need to do away with the whole ethanol in fuel thing.

Dear lord no, allowing E15 will result in older cars breaking down within feet of the gas stations where it is pumped. We have a gas station in town that pumps gas which is comprised of “at least 10% ethanol” and it is a misery. The working poor and their children will die if this happens.

If the only difference is a date of “2 weeks” then the gas is already there at this new standard.
The fight should have been against further diluting gas, further reducing efficiency of gas.

I wonder if these lobbyists understand that they have SO much blood on their hands?

Very much so, We are thinking about ruined fuel tanks, but a few years ago there were huge food price spikes in grain worldwide that caused actual hunger for some, ruination and civil unrest for many more, because we weren't selling our corn for food.

I’ll keep that in mind when I buy a generator.
Thank you for the tip.

I run ethanol free in all the old stuff and try to as much as possible in my newer era Tacoma.
There is a station close to me that carries the stuff.

They’re making millions, in a culture where that’s what matters most. They know, they just don’t care.

We don’t have any ethanol free fuel out here where we are :-(
To: jospehm20
Absolutely! It only makes sense for the corporate corn/soybean farms.
To: Kay Ludlow
I’m surprised that it’s still available around me. Best guess there is a big enough crowd of boat owners.
The local chain does well about carrying the stuff. EF fuel gets a plug in some ads.

The fall fuel changeover would happen in a couple of weeks anyway, but the very large hurricane, with lots of people buying new generators, is THIS week.
To: Kay Ludlow
I have a 67 GTO, It doesn’t get driven a lot anymore. When I do drive it, I run it on 100LL avgas. It’s pricey but it saves damage to the fuel system.

Bad idea. Chances of being able to sue them when their product ruins your equipment. Probably close to zero.

We used to have a clear gas option at a local station. We are only required to have it during the winter months.
The station stopped selling it because it cost TOO MUCH. With the subsidies and supply, it is cheaper to sell E10 than straight gas and the station couldn’t compete so they stopped selling it.
