To: Extremely Extreme Extremist

“Look, I perfectly understand sticking it to Ryan, but why in (Nicolas Cage’s character in “The Rock”) ZEUS’ BUTTHOLE would you want to work with Schumer and Pelosi?”

Because Democrat leaders in Congress deliver the votes of their rank and file...they are not afraid to use extreme coercion to assure loyalty to themselves. Republicans have two giant functional problems that they have never shown any sign of being able to handle: 1. They are worse than a herd of cats and they never go in a single mass in one direction, in part because each and every one has their own program or nuance and each and every one is convinced that they’re the only person who really understands the issue, and 2. Because they are worse than a herd of cats, they elect either the most incapable or most corrupt to be their leadership...so that each and every one has maximum opportunity to be a maverick and go their own way. They are a completely dysfunctional ruling party. And they likely will continue to be for very long time.

And Trump ran on really one thing...getting stuff done. He’s going to do deals with people who actually can deliver a solid block of votes and know he can always peel off enough Republicans to get him over the line...because Republicans have made themselves into disparate smaller groups looking to be peeled off in return for some “consideration.” The are a majority that acts exactly like a minority. That’s where their comfort level is...so Schumer and Pelosi, essentially by default get to be what they want to be: the de facto leaders of Congress.

Blame the Republicans, they aren’t called the stupid party for nothing.

The GOP can’t get anything done because the two main wings of the party have diametrically opposed agendas. The progressive corportist wing wants open borders, big government. Patriots want a wall, less government, etc.

Dems, OTOH, are all progressives of varying stripes.

It’s hard for me to see a future for the GOP if Trump can’t sort them out. The corportists would rather be in the minority than govern in a patriotic manner.

Remember when this came up last time people here said he would use the negotiations to get things from the Dems..like funding for the wall.

He got nothing. He caved..and what happens next time...THIS:

“That means when the dual deadline for the budget and debt arrives in mid-December, Democrats will have enormous leverage. They will be in a position to trade support for the budget and the debt ceiling for any number of Democratic priorities, from health care to protection of Dreamers who are suddenly facing deportation.”
