It appears Assad’s assault is by Syria’s Tiger forces & Iranian Republican Guard forces. Iran’s military and Hezbellah are a huge portion of Assad’s military in some parts of the country.
They are hurrying to try and take Deir Ezzor before the Kurdish lead SDF does. It is strategic in relation to the oil fields. ISIS in Raqqa is close to finished. Assad knows the next step by the SDF will be Deir Ezzor.
The thrust now is by Russian Air force. We will see when Assad’s forces actually arrive.

The Yellow is the SDF forces (SDF has always avoided conflicts with Assad forces. Only violation has been Iranian elements)
