My son-in-law graduated with an English major. He was trying to make a living writing. Then he got on as a pharmacy tech and now has state and federal certificates. He is making money and prospects in the future look brighter and brighter. He says he could have done the necessary at a Community College and not wasted so much time.
Funny, I had my heart set on being an author of pulp fiction.
My father said, “Artists and writers starve.
I became a Civil Engineer. That worked out fine. I never starved.
My brother became a music major. He starved.
It really matters what you major in at college and the harder the major the more likely you are to get a good paying job. Everybody wants an easy cake-walk major with lots of electives and no math. They all get put in more or less the same boat when it comes time to apply for a job.
At least your son-in-law saw and correct his mistake and went medical. Smart move. Pharmacy is pure job security going forward.
