The government is doing fine, not perfect, but what’s to be expected after Obama, Bush Junior, etc. Crazy is calling the government thugs. They are our government, fix it, don’t throw it out, don’t raise arms against it. That path is no different than Antifa and others. Be better than that.
The “thugs” are the people that came to support the Bundy thieves. Armed. No different than Antifa.
Your’ve watched this from the beginning? And you are STILL misinformed.
+1.
Head in the sand? Ostrich Man!
The only First Amendment zone is the United States of America
Oh, Jan 22, 2017
You have been here from the start?
I wonder why people can’t put 2 and 2 together.
Hillary sold off Uranium Mining rights to Russian Based companies.
No one asks just ‘where’ those locations where mining would occur would be.
Smile. Very appropriate statement. Correlates well with one I've heard.
Farming is easy, if your pencil is your plow and the nearest field is 1,000 miles away.
Note: my family has owned/operated farms in this county since 1889. We own the land, there is very little government property in Texas. It is not an easy business to survive in. I do not appreciate bureaucratic rule.
“Grazing fees were at least a part of the issue. Bundy paid
for some time but quit when the Feds raised the fees.”
They were the foil used by the BLM to attack the Bundys. Harry Reid has his hands all over this what with his hand-picked former staffer being the head of the BLM at the time of the standoff. My wife grew up in Las Vegas. Her father for some time worked in the Overton Valley which is adjacent to Bunkerville. Reid had some kind of land “exchange” deal going down there where the Bundy’s grazing lands were involved. Bunkerville named after the Bunker family some of whom now own the largest mortuary in Las Vegas and one of the cemeteries.
The problem farmers generally have with the government is when they lose their water because of a crazy decision from politicians guided by environmental whackos. If farmers have water that is not subject to that craziness they at least have a fighting chance.
We are dryland farmers. North of town is irrigated, it’s sandy soil. The water table recharges fairly quickly, not so in the 5 years of drought we had during the every 100 year pattern we recently had.
Right not we fight 2 culprits. Seed cost due to insane seed licensing laws, written by Global companies and lobbyists. And regulatory cost due to this. All input costs are way up, fees by state inspection process is trippled, commodity prices crashed. End result, impossible to make it work. We are back looking at just going back to running our own operation, no more Certified seed production. Commodity prices crashed because grain prices are global (we produce far more than we consume and the dollar is strong, effect? We are no long viable on export).
Foundation wheat seed costs us $38 per bushel, 2 year lead time to Certification. Market price on Certified is $15/20 per bushel, elevator price last year was $2.70 per bushel. And the yields were terrible. It costs about $5 per bushel to comply with inspection depending on yield. Do the math. No solution.
Blame whoever you want, congress understands it, but cannot change the reality.
The cost of regulation is self inflicted. There is a lot more to this than what I’ve stated. But that is a whole different topic of discussion. I do know about it. POLs pretend to know when it sounds good, but cannot say no to the money they are paid when they are bought. Catch 22.
Wow, man. You are no friend of the constitution and limited government. You’ve been shilling for government-sponsored abuse of power and brutality for this entire thread. Tell your friend Harry Reid we said hello. And change your sheets once in a while. All that whoring for globalism can leave a stain.
You don't recall correctly. You don't know one damn thing about this story yet you can't keep your pie hole shut about it. Take your propaganda somewhere else.
Fixed it for you.
“The thugs are the people that came to support the Bundy thieves. Armed. No different than Antifa.”
Ranchers, family members, and friends attempting to save a a family, their way of life, property, and their livelihood from being seized by the government are in your tiny mind equivalent to masked communist Antifa thugs? If you truly were a lurker for all those years prior to 2014 it was probably for performing opposition research. You are big government statist who is probably fine with Stalin’s slaughter of independent small farmers. You disgust me.
Does my participation date on FR matter really matter that much to you?! I have been an active member on FR since early 2008 under a different user name and am an active member under this name since 2014. I am a paying supporter of FR. If you have any issues with my participation, take it up with Jim.
Face it, your belief system is directly opposed to Free Republic and your efforts to paint yourself as a freedom-loving Freeper is nothing but a lie. An intellectualy honest person in your situation would flame out by posting an opus and then joining DU.
Yawn. You are so mistaken that it is embarrassing. Write on if you want but don’t be surprised when I and others call you on your BS, ignorance, and rudeness. Consider before you write further that people on FR are not monolithic, yet are still mostly conservative. Most of us believe in the US, our constitution, our laws, are veterans, and few are insurrectionists, few defend criminals, law breaking, and so forth. We are not here to trash the US, to overthrow it, or encourage others to do so. That you are, maybe YOU should consider your further participation here. Definitely try being more respectful to those of us that respectfully disagree with you.
