CHICAGO -- Two men were killed and at least 14 other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between late Friday and Sunday morning, marking a deadly start to the city's Labor Day weekend.

The two deaths were the latest casualties of Chicago's gun violence that has taken the lives of at least 433 people since the start of the year, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Seven people were killed and at least 25 others were wounded in shootings last weekend.

And so it begins. Figuring 10 dead, 30+ injured by the end of the Labor Day Weekend.

The per-capita rate of “gun violence” is greater in New Orleans than it is in Chicago. In other words, there is a higher personal rate of getting shot in New Orleans than in Chicago.

Does everyone on FR focus only on Chicago ‘cause Obama came from there?

Well, there are two days left, and the real parties are on Monday.

Good thing Chicago has such strict gun laws otherwise someone might get shot.

Sounds on the light side... Only 2 dead?

The good news... Democrats can now count on a couple of more votes in the next Presidential election.

I’ve been in my current home and neighborhood 16 years. I don’t remember any shootings or murders in that time. It’s rare we ever see a cop car.

It’s pretty damned peaceful compared to parts of Chicago. I don’t have to wonder why that is.

Yeah, well, who cares? The important thing is to make sure there are no confederate statues in Chicago.

Yeah but 14 wounded. Chicago hospitals get plenty of practice on gunshot wounds and the yuts have no idea how to aim a firearm.

2 out of 14?

Their accuracy is getting worse, not better.

I've been in mine for 13 years. We don't have lock our home at night and I often forget to lock my car (although I always remind myself not to tempt fate). Almost zero violent crime, schools are good.

I can't figure it out either. Completely random, I suppose.
