Google Issues Ultimatum to Conservative Website: Remove 'Hateful' Article or Lose Ad Revenue
PJ Media ^ | 8/31/2017 | Tyler O'Neil

"Yesterday morning, we received a very bizarre letter from Google issuing us an ultimatum," Shane Trejo, media relations director of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Michigan, wrote on The Liberty Conservative. "Either we were to remove a particular article or see all of our ad revenues choked off in an instant. This is the newest method that Big Brother is using to enforce thought control."

"As stated in our program policies, Google ads may not be placed on pages that contain content that: Threatens or advocates harm on oneself or others; Harasses, intimidates or bullies an individual or group of individuals; Incites hatred against, promotes discrimination of, or disparages an individual or group on the basis of their race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or other characteristic that is associated with systemic discrimination or marginalization"

What a queer litmus test. So liberalism (which is ALWAYS in a "struggle") is protected and the so-called "establishment" can be attacked at every turn.

Does anyone have a link to the article Google hates?

That was in an old 1950’s Tales of the Crypt?
Interesting.

I think that the search sites ultimately all access the same data trawl.

Go to DuckDuckGo.com images

Search for black couples
then search for white couples

Same biased results as Google.

The article, and I read it, says nothing about Google having a monopoly on advertising.

There are many alternatives to Google’s AdSense company -the one who threatened the website with revenue cutoff.

Some examples are Media.net, Amazon Display ads, Infolinks, Adversal, Chitika, Viglink and Skimlinks.

Keep government out of civil matters. Let the marketplace work as it does and always has -until governments get involved.

It ran inside the front cover of a number of EC Comics (now owned by Time-Lies-Warner-Turner-CNN-HBO).

What is the article about?

The media has conflated Nazi's, alt-right and anyone who voted for Trump. The article in question the Google considered hate speech explained why Nazi's and the alt-right aren't the same thing.

Comparing the differences between the Alt-Right and genuine NAZIs.

Apparently the author was one of the organizers of the Unite The Right rally and has been banished from the mainstream.

Exactly. I believe anti-trust laws should apply since Google is big enough to control so much of the internet. I understand they are a private company and have the right to have whatever they want on their site, but they are too big now. Another way to do this is to use other sites only.

Yeah, it’s interesting to see people who would bristle at the suggestion that FReerepublic be told what it can and cannot do with its private website but want the gubmint to step and in control someone else’s.

It is past time that blatant racist and hate sites are removed. Now, let’s address BLM and others.

I’m still pissed that Gmail is required in order for me to use this dang Android smart phone. Really, really pissed. An item on my “to do” list is to revert back to my half-smart BlackBerry Classic where Google isn’t required.

” Google Issues Ultimatum to Conservative Website: Remove ‘Hateful’ Article or Lose Ad Revenue”

This is analogous to Walmart setting up roadblocks around a mom and pop store and not allowing delivery of goods.

This is actually by light-years an improvement. Google is defining what it finds objectionable, not quite making it public, but making it very easy to take public. The previous tactic was simply to capriciously knock down conservative sites without any warning. With such transparency, Google will not long be able to sustain political bias.

YES, Google is a private entity and can censor as it sees fit. But it enters into business contracts and if it employs a bias in its enforcement of its terms of agreement, it rightfully opens itself up to lawsuits by those harmed.
