A Northern Illinois University professor recently coined the phrase compulsory heterogenderism to describe how trans* identities are often rendered invisible by the assumptions of "cisgender" people.
Z Nicolazzo argues that "diverse gender identities" are often "culturally unintelligible" because of the tendency to view transgender people through the lens of sexuality rather than gender.
A Northern Illinois University professor recently coined the phrase compulsory heterogenderism to describe how trans* identities are often invisible.
Z Nicolazzo, a transgender professor who goes by ze/hir pronouns, first used the term compulsory heterogenderism in an academic article published Friday, defining it as the impulse to view transgender people through their sexuality as opposed to gender identity.
According to Nicolazzo, trans people are rarely perceived as transgender, but instead as dykes or masculine lesbians because of their appearance, which concerns Nicolazzo because it results in trans identities going unrecognized, or otherwise being erased.

These people just make up sh*t. We should ignore them.
From the article:
“To study this issue, Nicolazzo interviewed four transgender students, one of whom, Silvia, spoke of her experiences with compulsory heterogenderism during a first date, when she, an agender but feminine person, took a masculine lesbian out for dinner.”
There were problems with door-holding and who the waiter assumed should get the check.
As if there aren’t enough important things to worry about!
Well, “Ze” is right about one thing: this entire ridiculous flood of intellectual sewage is, indeed, unintelligible.
These people just make up sh*t. We should ignore them.
This dung beetle of language “professor” should be exiled to the city of Babel. He reached a new low in nitwittery with his confused claptrap.
I read these articles and I feel like there’s a completely invisible world I’m missing.
I’m pretty OK with that.
Satire will never recover from this time period.
With queers, it’s “all about sex.” In fact, that’s all they ever worr about. They are unable to control their sexual drives. They ar elike my dog when he’s in heat - he’ll hump any leg that comes along.
I guess Ze is actually a girl, but I looked up its picture, and I honestly cannot tell. Usually you can tell, but this time . . .
"X" + "Y" = boy
"X" + "X" = girl
It ain't rocket science...bit it *is* science.
You must report to the principal’s office for misgendering.
I like the phrase. How about this one - “Sociological Vandalism.”
Look at "Chaz" Bono and you see the same kind of wispy little beard that one often sees on older Greek and Italian women.
Also its just sickening how reality-centric people regard trans-historic people as being simply crazy. Who are we to say that the person next to us is not really Napoleon?
This was all forseen by my favorite poet, Samuel Hoffenstein, back in the 1920s. He wrote:
"Lives there a man with hide so tough
Who thinks two sexes aren't enough?"
agender
Describes the left to a tee.
Yikes!
