Whose side is the New York Times on?

The New York Times has run a lot of pretentious ads since the last election, claiming to stand for “truth.” But their latest one strikes me as odd, and perhaps revealing:

“Politics” is the public many-sided discourse about how to run a government or group of people. In the world of “journalism” today, they all follow leftism blindly. There is no desire or room for discourse. They are totalitarian propaganda producers solely, meant to shame and goad weak citizens to enacting the leftist goals.

WHOSE SIDE IS THE NEW YORK TIMES ON?

The New York Times has run a lot of pretentious ads since the last election, claiming to stand for “truth.” But their latest one strikes me as odd, and perhaps revealing:

 

Who is the “they” who have politics on their side? The Republicans, who have generally fared well in recent election cycles? Conservatives? I can’t think of any other obvious possibilities. And who is the “we” who have journalism on “our” side? Democrats? Liberals? Truth-seekers? It is hard to say.

But I find it disturbing. I am so old, I can remember when journalists didn’t admit that they were on anybody’s side.

But the irony is, they don't have journalism on their side. At least responsible journalism anyway. They start out with their narrative, and fit write the stories around that.

True, but they are redefining “journalism.” If what the main media is performing right now is to be called “journalism,” it’s shaming the most gullible Americans to fall in line with the leftism the “journalists” work for. The business is supposed to be exposure of truths hidden by agents of one goal or another. No longer.

They are on the side of the communists and other totalitarians. As they have always been. They were soft on Hitler during his rise in the 1920s and early 1930s, and they never met a communist or islamic dictator they didn’t like. To the Times, the enemies of America are white, male, heterosexual, entrepreneurs, patriotic and/or Christian and/or Orthodox Jew. They hate the traditional family, conservative churches, and the US Constitution. In other words, they have all of the institutions that made America Great. Which is why they hate Trump for wanting to Make America Great Again.
