Similarly, in the 1930s and 1940s, when Americans condemned Communism and Nazism for being totalitarian, they weren’t accusing Communists of murdering Jews like the Nazis did.

Ummm, the Communists killed 7 million Ukrainians by starving them to death... but who's counting...

If I were counting, I’d say that the number I’ve heard most often is 20 million. But who’s counting?

7 to 10 million...

And then after the war the Ukrainian Germans who had been unable to leave Stalin’s control since his ban on emigration in 1929 were either deported to Siberia by the Red Army or sent to the Reich by the Nazis. When the war ended, ethnic German Ukrainians found in Allied-occupied Germany, etc., were rounded up by the Allies and forcibly repatriated to Russia, where they were sent to the gulags.
