John Bolton says he's been shut out of Trump's White House

Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said in an op-ed that White House officials have closed him off from offering policy advice to President Trump, including a way to exit the Iran nuclear deal.

In an op-ed published in National Review, Bolton said former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who left the White House on Aug. 18, asked him in July to draft a proposal for how the U.S. could leave the Iran deal.

But Bolton said it's unlikely his five-page plan, titled "Abrogating the Iran Deal: The Way Forward," will make it to Trump's desk, as "staff changes at the White House have made presenting it to President Trump impossible."

"Although he was once kind enough to tell me ‘come in and see me at any time,' those days are now over," Bolton wrote Monday. "If the president is never to see this option, so be it. But let it never be said that the option didn't exist."

Trump often condemned the Iran nuclear deal, negotiated by former President Barack Obama, while on the campaign trail. But in July, Trump and his administration certified to Congress that Iran was complying with the deal's terms.

According to Bolton, the president asked his advisers for "alternatives to acquiescing yet again in a policy he clearly abhorred" before the July certification, but they didn't provide the president with any options.

Bolton said his five-page plan, however, can be expanded to provide Trump with a detailed roadmap to exiting the Iran deal, and said the administration doesn't need to wait until October, the next upcoming certification deadline, to do so.

"Trump can and should free America from this execrable deal at the earliest opportunity," he said.

Why do I think the excerpts are “selective” and don’t tell the TRUTH of the story.

I always thought Mr. Bolton was top-notch; the kind of no BS guy this President would appreciate.

At first glance, this does not sound good.

Mullah McMaster’s work.

Agreed. Glad to know Bolton’s calls aren’t being returned. Carry on, Mr. President.

Yeah, once Mr. Trump won the election I expected that Bolton, and Gingrich, among others missing, would be part of the team—but I never understood poly-tiks beyond gubmint is a thief and politicians are masters of that art.

Don’t know much about him, just see him on Fox News. This means Fox has neocons on masquerading as conservatives?

There are thousands of policy wonks who also know what’s best for America.

They don’t get to see President Trump either.

Why is Bolton whining over this?

A plus for Trump.

Surely you jest. This is none other than Kelly in action, restricting yet another conservative operative's access to the Oval Office. Trump is being isolated by the deep state from everyone and anyone who has the capability and experience to make his campaign promises a reality. This is a coup in progress.

>> What’s the issue with Bolton? <<

1. He’s associated with too many neo-Cons.

2. He’s very down on Putin.

3. Pres. Trump reportedly doesn’t like guys with moustaches.

NSC Adviser McMaster and Sec. of State Tillerson both prefer for the US to not abrogate the Iran deal as Bolton wants to do and Trump had pledged but to instead act only in respond to Iranian violations. Apparently, based on commercial considerations, our European allies support the Iran deal and would not back the US if we exited the Iran deal on our own initiative.
