House Speaker Paul Ryan Criticizes Donald Trump’s Pardon for Joe Arpaio

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Saturday criticized President Donald Trump for pardoning a former Arizona sheriff, Joe Arpaio, becoming the highest-ranking Republican to object to the move.

“The speaker does not agree with the decision,” said Ryan spokesman Doug Andres. “Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States. We should not allow anyone to believe that responsibility is diminished by this pardon.”

The White House didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment about Mr. Ryan’s statement.

On Friday, the White House announced that the president had pardoned Mr. Arpaio, known as an immigration hard-liner who had been sheriff of Maricopa County for 24 years before he lost a re-election bid last year.

Mr. Arpaio, an early supporter of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign, was convicted last month for disobeying a 2011 federal court order to halt immigration raids. He was to be sentenced in October and faced up to six months in jail.

As sheriff he took aggressive measures to curb illegal immigration, including hunting people who crossed the border illegally in remote parts of his county, launching workplace raids and conducting traffic stops.

In a tweet Friday, the president described Mr. Arpaio as a “patriot” who “kept Arizona safe.”

A statement from the White House Friday said:

“Throughout his time as sheriff, Arpaio continued his life’s work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now eighty-five years old, and after more than fifty years of admirable service to our nation, he is a worthy candidate for a presidential pardon.”

Mr. Arpaio didn’t respond to a request for comment, but in several tweets after the pardon he thanked the president and his supporters, while also asking for donations to his legal fund.

You are so correct on that. There are now 3 political wings in Washington. Trump's conservatives, the RINOs mostly in the Senate, and the Democrats.

Law-enforcement officials have a special responsibility to respect the rights of everyone in the United States.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

No mention of the fact that Joe Arpaio did nothing but enforce the federal laws on immigration and refused to comply with an unconstitutional liberal fascist federal court order?

Ryan hasn’t got a clue and needs to go.

LAw enforcement officiasls have one duty, worn under oath; to support and defend the Constitution of The UNited States. Thats not a “special responsibility” whichi does not apply to any police officer. So called “special responsibilities” are the loss of law and order, and the loss of the Constitutional Rights of the citizenry to lawful protection and a secure border.

Sheriff Joe was an elected official. And a plenipotentiary of the People’s Will. Ryan somehow missed that? Ryan is exceedingly stupid or a complete liberal fascist.

SHALOM!

Note to Paul Ryan:

I was born & raised & educated in Wisconsin. My class just held their 60th High School reunion this past Saturday.

I truly wish that YOU—MR RYAN—could have availed yourself of a personal trip to Maricopa County, Arizona, when Sheriff Joe was in office. It might have educated you.

The illegal problem has never hit Wisconsin like it has hit the border states. How do I know? I left Wisconsin in March of 1964 & moved to So Calif. I witnessed & lived a personal connection to the INVASION of the illegals from many places south of the border. Got to the point where I didn’t go out for dinner past daylight or didn’t go at all. Scheduled what trips around the County of Los Angeles I had to make only in daylight. Only out at dark with dogs in car/ruck & all windows up & doors locked.... OFTEN carrying a .38 pistol which was always loaded.

I attended many of my High School reunions-—held every 5 years— and could not get across to my classmates the numbers of illegals & what trouble they were causing in So Calif alone-—not to mention all the other border states of Arizona, New Mexico, & Texas. 1962-1967-1972-1977-1982-1987-1992-& 2007 were reunions I attended & the mantra was the same-—It is bad & getting worse.

BUT—because my classmates hadn’t lived it, as I had, they couldn’t grasp what I was saying. Probably more my fault than theirs—I didn’t get my point across. BUT—FINALLY—the illegal problem is starting to impact Wisconsin. It isn’t pretty & it won’t get any prettier.

Mr Ryan- You live behind 10 foot walls on your property —and the rest of Wisconsin doesn’t—unless they are in Waupun prison-——and their safety is at risk.

Sheriff Joe was a tough Sheriff, and I often said I wished we could clone him & pass out those clones all across America. Sheriff Joe’s recidivism rate was the lowest in the country....He knew that the invasion of the illegals was constantly on his doorstep and he truly cared about his constituents. Safety was always his utmost concern.

Mr Ryan- I believe that you owe Sheriff Joe a large & loud apology....and that IF you have the balls to do so-—get yourself an education about the problems on our southern borders... That education is long overdue, IMO.
