AL-TABQA– a Christian citizen who lives in the city of al- Tabqa said that IS mercenaries urged him to convert to Islam from the perspective of IS extremism, forcibly, after they ordered him to pay Jizyah: fee taken from non-Muslims living in a Muslim state, if he wanted to stay on his religion, but George did not have the money to pay Jizyah.

After the torture and compulsion, they ordered us either to convert to Islam or pay Jizyah; and if I was unable to pay the it, I had to convert to Islam in spite of it. “
“Da’ash took away my personal card and three mobile phones; all the phone numbers of my family and my acquaintances; so I lost all my personal proof of my identity and lost all contact with my family.”
In an interview with ANHA, George Kahwagi appealed to the priest, Jack Murad, who was working under his supervision, and who is currently residing in Germany to communicate with him to solve his problem and to know the place of his family, and whether they are alive.
