Something else I'll point out from my own experience is that a lot of people who strive to maintain high personal moral standards have no interest in serving in the U.S. military -- and some the posts you see on this thread are among the reasons for this.

Does anyone here think this speaks well of the U.S. military?

Good point - it also does not speak well for our society in general. Far be it from me to proclaim my own supposed “spirituality,” but have we really fallen so far that the defense of traditional morality is ridiculed on this very forum?

Your high moral standards allow you to lie?

I just have to ask you if you are a U.S. citizen living somewhere else or are you a citizen of another country? I ask because you seem to have an odd edge to comments you make about the U.S. over many topics. Pretty judgemental, edgy.

I disagree about people with high moral standard not having an interest in serving in the military for that reason alone. I know many that do serve and have served. The military is not all miscreants. There are of course many excuses for not serving in the military but those I know who have served who do have high morals have managed to do just fine.
