Also married 30 years - but candidly, do you not regret those sexual excesses and the diseases you may have contracted, etc.? And how does your wife feel about it? Does she not secretely wish you had saved yourself for her? (No need to reply to me; such questions are between a man and his wife, and God).

Your high moral standards allow you to lie?

Now here is where you are wrong. Fundamentally, and perhaps eternally. In the end, no one will lose if they are seeking to stand with God, albeit in their own imperfect way, replete with failure but still striving to be faithful to Him.

I was single and wanted to be married.

I found women who were also single and looking to be married in the Philippines and in Okinawa.

This blanket assertion that only hookers want to be with servicemen and that the servicemen were married seems to be a hallmark of a lot of posters on this thread.

I have no regrets about any of my 23 years as a Marine. My wife has never once asked me about my time before we met, and I never asked about her past. The past doesn’t matter to us. What matters is the 30 great years, 4 kids, and 9 grandkids. Had I not enlisted in the Marine Corps we would have probably never met.

What I gather from your post:

1. You have never been in combat.

2. You have never been in a foxhole while under fire (there are no atheists in foxholes).

3. You cannot understand the significance of the “Young Dumb” comment after having been under fire in Iraq or Afghanistan fire a year.

No it says some folks think that sex outside of marriage is acceptable

And those folks want to slam today’s youth who are immoral and unpatriotic.

So here’s the deal (have to go now - thanks to all for your contributions to this thread). I totally get it we are all sinners and do things that we should not do. But there is a vast difference between humbly acknowledging our weaknesses, and seeking to JUSTIFY them. The latter is the refusal to acknowledge our sin. Jesus warned that there is a sin against the Holy Spirit which will not be forgiven either in this world or in the world to come. These are serious words, and if we refuse acknowledge the TRUTH (”thou shall not commit adultery”) there will be eternal consequences. Oh, and this also applies to those veterans who suppose that putting on a uniform absolves them from moral responsibility for their actions.

All I know from experience is that the people who are effective in combat are often disciplinary problems in garrison. If you are ever in a position where you have to fight I suggest you cultivate friendships with the guys who get in trouble in town. The goody goodies will freeze and get you killed. If that upsets some of the self-righteous prigs well that’s just tough.

The moral busybodies will torment us forever.

Bringing whores into secure areas means these people don’t have the sense to do the job.

They should be fired... reassigned to “KP’ or something...

I finally get you.

Read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Marine-Chesty-Puller-Burke-Davis-ebook/dp/B01BM1TJ48/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1503675085&sr=1-2&keywords=chesty

The Protestants objected to Chesty about all the Marines converting to Catholic, he basically said get in the front lines with them to find out why. The Catholic priests were in the front line foxholes with the troops, but tjd1454 was not with them.

Which people are you asserting are attempting to justify sexual immorality?

What we primarily have here is a bunch of so called moralists who desire to inflate the offense with unproven assertions.

Absolutely if women were not allowed in the area of if they were allowed and all they had to do was register them then the men should be relieved. I haven’t seen anyone assert otherwise.

But, while fornication and adultery are both sins adultry is more serious and it injured more parties. A true Christian actually cares that accusations he makes are true, and would not make assertions about marital status absent information.

Then there has been the assertation that the women were hookers. Because Christians in whatever denominations are posting here have higher knowledge that men and women do not get together without money changing hands. No slander or ill intent in that assertion, right tjd1454?

The thread turned into a flame war when those two assertions combined with the insinuation that sex outside of marriage is strictly a male trait rather than a trait of humans in general.

Called on their unproven assertions those who made them doubled down and are now insisting that their being called on those things is to defend immorality.

Because making up circumstances in the absence of information isn’t wrong and shouldn’t be challenged. Isn’t that right Nifster? This is outright where you have gone. You going to stick with that?

“All I know from experience is that the people who are effective in combat are often disciplinary problems in garrison.”

I find this to be largely (but not completely) true in a similar, but far (FAR) less serious area as well - sports.
