The Burden of Fighting in Afghanistan Will Fall on Trump’s Supporters
Breitbart ^ | August 24, 2017 | John Carney

Posted on 08/25/2017 1:53:39 AM PDT by Colonel Kangaroo

President Donald Trump’s supporters will pay a bloody price for his abandoning his “original instinct” on Afghanistan.

“Since the founding of our republic,” Trump said in his speech on Afghanistan this week, “American patriots from every generation have given their last breath on the battlefield for our nation and for our freedom.”

Although Trump refused to say how many American troops he would commit to Afghanistan to carry out his escalation, it is a certainty that many of those breathing their last breaths there would be from the places that delivered him his electoral victory last November. A recent study found that there is a significant relationship between the support for Trump in a county and the county’s rate of casualties from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are places that voted for Trump because they had suffered enough in our wars and wanted a president who promised a change.

The study found that casualty rates correlated to Trump victories in three key states–Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

One more line from the article:

"Can Trump get away with it? We don’t think so. Already, important elements of the Trump base—led by Bannon and the Breitbart News machine—are pushing back against the president’s reversal."

A column that John F. Kerry could’ve written.

Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq means we have troops on both sides of Iran. Does anyone else see this logic?

My sense of Trumps position is that decades of NOT killing people and breaking thing vis a vis bloodthirsty Maddog terrorists has left us with a massive security problem if we cut out...

Of course this is true.

America’s patriots have always answered the call to protect her.

You’ll find very few Antifa, BLM & other malcontent, leech, Snowflakes in the ranks.

The Title says it all!

“”The Burden of Fighting in Afghanistan Will Fall on Trump’s Supporters””

It’s always the “strong and the Patriotic” that stand up and protect the weak. Nice to see the left finally recognize what we’ve known all along.

Not to mention that it is no secret that if we leave Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan will populate it with more terrorists that it had before Bush decided to oust the Taliban.

Iran, for one. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have a lot of influence in operations in Helmand Province as well as in Iraq. Their commander brags about “killing lots of Americans”. That dog needs to be put down.

I did not watch or read what he said on Afghanistan.

Still, I have yet to see much written or hear spoken about the ROE still in use today.

If Trump does not immediately reassign ROE to the purview of battlefield commanders aligned to his stated goal of continuing the fight, there is no respect afforded the man who continues the policies of his predecessor.

“Will have” necessary tools and ROE is insufficient; make it happen or STFU. He should have implemented the changes PRIOR to his speech; THAT would have been impressive & respectful to those who’ve died under Zer0’s destructive ROE...

So, who knew that "conservatives" could make noises that sound exactly like gutless Lefties?

Sorry: I'm from the "stand up for our nation and civilization" branch of conservatism.

How about build our wall, first. Or just distract the sheeple and throw more money into a ME black hole.
No. we have no business over there. We went into Syria, miles from a Russian base that was there since the 70s.. to provoke them. It worked. They moved tanks to Poland, read how many sacrificed their lives in that one in history books.
Iraq and Afghanistan, we have tried on Iraq over 2 decades.. a-Stan half that. What success have we had? And now apparently our Navy can’t operate the back up steering for a destroyer.
We are not war ready. But at least nobody has to talk about failing to build a wall.

Exactly. There hasnt been anyone forced into military service since my older brothers in the late 60s.

The morally and physically strong provide protection for those who cant protect themselves.

Being ignorant (willful or otherwise) or taking that protection for granted is part of what turns people into pussies.

The burden of EVERYTHING in America falls on the shoulder of Trump supporters. It always has and that’s why we banded together behind a man who agrees with us.

The current “99% Sacrifice Free War” paradigm is why we’ve been there for 16 years and will be for another 16. Only 1% serve and it’s all financed by the national credit card.
